Now that the 2024 Sport Card and Memorabilia Expo Edmonton has concluded, it's time to reflect back on the event that our museum was a part of.

Many weeks of planning went into selecting our museum theme for the event, then preparing our card inventory, finalizing our many prizes for our show-famous $5 drawbox, and it was definitely coming down to the wire as we completed the final touches.

Our museum theme for this event was "Back to the '80s" and it was a medium showcase that had 18 pieces of game worn goaltending history on display of 17 goalies. Our exhibition featured game worn memorabilia of Nick Ricci, Paul Harrison, Steve Baker, Gary Laskoski, Kelly Hrudey, Rollie Melanson, Darrell May, Ron Low, Jeff Reese, Steve Penney, Doug Keans, Gilles Meloche, Wendell Young, Bob Froese, Brian Hayward, Darren Eliot, and Bill Ranford on display. As expected, it was a very popular showcase for all ages with younger people learning new things about these netminders from a bygone era of pro hockey, and the older folk reminiscing about the names they themselves watched play.

As it came to cards, our company made many sales and I would say that far beyond expectation, our drawbox was the biggest hit of the show. We brought a total of 303 prizes for people to win and we returned back to our home base with less than 40 of those remaining. We got to interact with many friends, both local and also those from around Canada whom we have not seen in a while. It was also fun to interact with everyone new who came by our booths and talked hockey or purchased items from us. There was some drama at other areas at the show, but luckily we were spared of most of it with little more than the occasional nuisances coming by our area.

So all in all, it was a successful though fatiguing weekend and we cannot wait until our next museum exhibition at a time TBA.

Some cool items for sure. The Ranford jersey and the cool Steve Penny helmet and cage are my favourites. You need more leafs gear in there

Was great seeing you Bruce (and your pops) and the impressive display of your museum again at the show. You always come with such energy and passion. Glad to hear you had such a great time!

Another great display/theme as always. I am sure your patrons enjoyed viewing the museum! Excellent work. You must get a lot of "I remember this goalie, watched him play, etc, etc". I am sure you unlock a lot of fond memories with people, which is is awesome.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for your comment. Lol, I tried to make a nice even split to not have too many teams in heavy duplication. I did have one Maple Leafs set on display there.

Thank you Jeremy, I appreciate that, it's always a pleasure to see you in person. I like to bring that energy and passion, because what's the point if I don't love what I do in the card and game worn world?

Thanks Aaron, and definitely a ton of people of all ages were quite impressed with the setup. More 30+ year old people of course, but that is to be expected when the items on display were last used several generations of hockey fans ago. But that is why we do what we do, to teach people and to have fun while doing it lol
