Been knocked-out for the week, but buddy asked yesterday if I wanted to go to the Sweden-Germany World Championship game here in Stockholm that was played today since he had a free ticket. Figured I'd go, but felt worse today, but buddy then said he had already booked me to come along, so I just went.
We had fairly good seats on the lower level a little on the side, and jokingly, as I always do when I know the Russian squad is in town, asked my friend if he could keep an eye out for Tretiak. He was GM at the Olympics in 2010, but not sure what he's up to now. Anyways, he didn't remember what he looked like, so I even showed him a picture from wiki.
Anyways, for some reason I stood up at the beginning of third period (might have been a goal or something, things got blurry. . .) and I turned around and he was sitting in the small boxed area right behind us. I almost **** myself.
Then during the second powerbreak I decided to gather some courage (legs shaking like a mother****er) and went and asked him if I could take a picture with. He was very nice about it and even put out his hand to shake mine before I went back down to my seat.
One of the coolest moments of my life, feeling like crap, but oh man!
