has to be one of the worst design ideas/cross overs ever in hockey cards. It is WAY worse then a sticker auto. Who wants a hockey card of a player featured playing hockey with an auto'd baseball skin? Makes no sense of any kind, another reason why I will never buy anymore ud wax.
 
Signed baseballs just look good. Way better than any other medium that could be signed. Pucks, basketballs, footballs just don't sign as well as a nice, white leather baseball.
 
not bad, but i have like 5 or 6 to pick up from this year's sweet shot - 2 or 3 of which are goin to be a bit tough.

Why not just sign white leather? What does a baseball have to do with Hockey?

If I collected baseball cards I sure wouldn't want a auto'd hockey puck signed by a ball player!

Do you even buy wax in the first place? I see you go on and on about how horrible UD is, but I'm yet to see your multiple ITG H&P, Pipes or Superlative breaks. Unless I missed those while I was at the expo.

Pretty much no, I will buy a bit of ITG stuff that comes out, but strictly as a player collector that barely re-sells anything there is almost no reason to buy wax. I would never even consider buying something like the Cup or Superlative, it is such a ridiculous WASTE of money. You should see peoples faces who dont collect when they are told about the gross over pricing of collectors cards these days. Like this Sweet Shot stuff $100+ for what 18 bucks worth of cards?... uh I'll pass, thank you very much.

I will stick to designing and creating my own cards and use ebay to buy and cut up jersey cards of players to use for myself. It is alot more gratifying for me then spending small fortunes on wax. Maybe its cause I am a father and feel it is irrespobable or maybe it is as a concerned citizen that sees an economy falling apart while I read posts of people spending thousands and thousands of dollars on nothing.

I am not overly fond of the baseball leather idea myself. I agree, just use a white leather swatch. I do not see the relevance of using the stiched baseball piece. And the set does look like a carbon copy of last year's release. I combed through the checklist and it looks like I only need to chase down 1 card anyways so this is a welcome breather.

But thats not the case, if an affordable product came out that was worth the money and fun to rip (kinda like late 90's wax) then maybe I would. Until then I will continue to bash UD.

Anyways lets let this thread be about Sweet Shot.
 
I am not crazy of the baseball leather stuff but autos are really nice with on white leather.

The base set selection is not fantastic, i mean it's always the same guys. I really love the stick auto set like i loved it last year. Siganture shots Ice signing is cool too

One card to chase , endorsed equipment goalie pads /15 auto !

I'm actually a fan of those baseball skins. The only problems is that they're REALLY thick cards. Basically like the 5,6,7,8 SPGU Patches. Makes it difficult to store.
 
I like the baseball skin idea as well. The site shows Iginla on the list but has a picture of Gerry Cheevers. Really hope there still is an Iginla as I really want one.

O-Pee-Chee? MVP? Those are very affordable and cool sets. UD caters to all collectors from lower priced to high end prosducts
 
For the sake of full disclosure, so Chris doesn't jump on me :), I won't be buying any of this. That said, it looks just like last year with the addition of some cow hide. The Stick autos and Endorsed stuff will sell well, but man, have some variety from year to year.

At least the base set looks nice.
