Team collector question

Say you are a Red Wings collector...do you just collect cards of players wearing a Wings jersey? Or for a guy like Hossa, would you also collect cards of his where he is wearing a Pens or Sens jersey? Also, do you generally only collect current roster players or do you also collect 90's or 80's as well? Just curious what everyone's collecting habits are.

anything that goes into my NYR collection has to have them pictured in the red white and blue. Other than that I don't have any other stipulations.

strictly blue and white for me, although I do have Bower, Gilmour, Joseph and Sundins rookies.

I am a Montreal team collector. All I need is for the card to have the Montreal logo on the card, not the player. For example, I have no use for a RYDER card with him pictured as a Hab even if it has a Habs game-used piece if the card has a Boston team logo on it. To me, that is a Boston card not a Montreal card. On the other hand, a SAMSONOV card with him pictured as an Oiler with a Boston jersey swatch is all good if it has a Habs team logo on the card.

My Nordiques collection contains only players in Quebec uniform.

I also can add some cards of a player in another uniform, but with que Nordiques logo on it.
For example, when Lindros was trade to the Flyers, a lot of 1992-93 players like Duchesne, Huffman, Ricci and Hextall were picture in the Phily uniform, but the card clearly stated, on the front, that they have been traded to the Nords. Those cards are in my Nords collection.

Some other exceptions: drafties and junior. I have some Jocelyn Thibault cards in his junior days, as long as Owen Nolan and Adam Foote. I also consider Adam Deadmarsh cards in the US uniform, before 1995 (the year the Nords moved to Colorado), and some Nordiques prospects in such sets as Classic.

I don't go after former Nordiques players picture in their country uniform (Michel Goulet in Canada, Peter Stastny in Czech) or every other uniform (like Anton Stastny in this year SPGU).

I know, I am a bit touchy about what is in and what is out, but eh, this is my collection and I have the right to choose what I collect!!

I've done it both ways but I collect the players for the team, not necessarily the players in that uniform. I also include players that were drafted by the Coyotes or Jets, even in WHA, or guys that were traded the to team but never played, like Christian Ruuttu.

I have tried to collect players on my team regardless of the jersey they wore before, but I just did not get the same satisfaction as seeing my favorite players in the Copper and Blue.
I pick the odd one up, say an O'Sullivan rookie patch that looks unique, just because I have to at least have one of his cards.

For my Oilers collection
Anything goes but the minute a player is no longer part of the Oilers, I'll move any cards that doesn't have a card stating that he is a Oiler or have a Oilers logo on the card.

For my Blue Jackets Collection
Card must have the Blue Jackets logo, card must say Columbus Blue Jackets, and I prefer to have the player pictured in a Blue Jacket jersey.
*I will allow ITG cards to be in my Jackets collection for example a Derrick Brassard auto from Heroes and Prospect is good.

I don't include inserts or parallels in my collection unless it's a 1/case or a low numbered card such as a HG. I might start adding inserts/parallels for my Jackets collection though
