Verified Trader,
It's been awhile, hope everyone's year is off to a good start
The Whalers collection has been slowing down for a while now, as the cards I need are getting very difficult to find, let alone acquire. But man it's been a blast! At least that frees up some time for custom card work LOL. To date, my grand total sits at 4,551 out of 4,603 possible cards. I still do not collect one-of-ones, show cards, or buy backs. I do have a few in my collection but there aren't a priority.
On with the tour!!!!!
Jeff O'Neill TOPPS-OPC Sheet D
If anyone here is in the know about the infamous "Sheet D" from the 1995 TOPPS cards, specifically the OPC parallel set I would love to hear more. I've talked with many collectors over the years, and probably the most consistent response was that somewhere between the printing of the sheets and the build-out into the pack assembly, the majority of the D Sheet cards took water damage. Thus, a very limited number of copies of the cards from sheet D went into the product. How few? Nobody can say, but the fact that I've been searching for this card for roughly 25 years is at least some kind of indication. I consider this a top level acquisition!
And a fun little fact about me landing this card is it achieves "N minus 1" for my collection. Specifically, the Hartford Whalers were in the NHL from 1979 through to 1996 inclusively. I now a copy of every single card (factory) produced of the Whalers while they were in the NHL (or 2,980/2,981)...except...ONE! 1995 Upper Deck Electric Ice GOLD Sean Burke

Ron Francis CUP
I have no idea what happened to the product from this year (2012/13) of the CUP, but dang it is real hard to find. I missed out on the base card, but I was able to at least land this jersey "silver" piece. I still need the base card and the gold base as well.

Mike Liut The Show
Super happy to own both versions of Mr. Liut! I believe he very recently was inducted into the St. Louis Blues Hall of Fame, but we all know where his best years were...

Gordie Howe Frozen Treasures
I was on the fence for years about these Frozen Treasures. The concept is top notch, but the execution typically fell short. Like most Panini offerings, each card has 3 variants...Base, Prime, and Patch. For these Frozen Treasures, the base are #/15 and the prime are #/10 and the patch is #/5. So with this addition, I only need the base #/15 to complete the "TRIFECTA".
There is an autograph there, but silver ink on a white swatch is just silly. Like I said, the execution was weak.

And speaking of Trifectas...here is a Trifection of Trifectas!!!
Ron Francis Limited Travels (Patch 03/10)
I was able to land this beauty from BidDaddyCoolBreeze (aka Jeremy). I believe I've shared this image before...

However as part of the Green Train of Happiness, I thought I would share an image of the card with it's brothers...
BASE/99 + PRIME/25 + PATCH/10

Gordie Howe Crown Royale Mythology Materials (Prime 06/10)
I consider myself very lucky to have won this for $20! I was pretty convinced it wouldn't arrive, but to the seller's credit he followed through!

And toward the Green Train of Happiness, I thought I would share an image of the card with it's brothers...
BASE + PRIME/10 + PATCH/5

Gordie Howe Dominion Mammoth (Patch 4/5)
This one more than made up for my cost savings on the Mythology card, but I knew I had to have it!!!!

And toward the Green Train of Happiness, I thought I would share an image of the card with it's brothers...
BASE(silver/25) + PRIME(gold/10) + PATCH(spectrum/5)

2021 Allure Svechnikov parahells
I was joking with a buddy about creating a new word for this debacle. I came up with parahell, he came up with parallol. They both work ha!

BASE-STEEL-BLACK RAINBOW-JERSEY NUMBER
SUNRISE-ORANGE SLICE-GREEN RAINBOW-BLUE CHINA
RED RAINBOW-PINK LEOPARD-BLUE LINE-PURPLE DIAMOND
RED RAINBOW AUTO-PINK LEOPARD AUTO-BLUE LINE AUTO-PURPLE DIAMOND AUTO
I also have the BLUE LINE AUTO JERSEY (not shown)
but I’m missing the PURPLE DIAMOND AUTO PATCH
And now for something completely different!!!!!! I've just returned from the framing store (this kind of framing is out of my league) and holy cow did they do a great job!

The Sebastian Aho was a retirement gift from my co-workers, and carries huge sentimental value for me. The fact they took the time to get a certified, autographed Hartford Whalers jersey is pretty special!

And this second one, I would like to attribute to karma. Before Christmas I had made some sales that provided me with a bit more liquidity that I'm used too. While surfing FaceBook for Whalers stuff, I found a thread posted by a guy that had to sell off a ton of group breaks he took part in, but he also needed some money in very short order. The jersey was actually in the background of his photos but I inquired anyway. He was very gracious, but also in need of money that evening. I took a leap of faith and trusted him, sent him the money and then a couple of weeks later the jersey shows up (with certification). A win-win for sure!!! (I won't lie, the 2 weeks of waiting seemed like an eternity)

That brings this edition to a close, thank you for being part of the journey. Now I prepare for my next retirement gift journey. I'm heading down to Raleigh to catch up with Daniel and Ryan to "participate" in viewing the NJ Devils vs the Hartford Whalers (Hurricanes in Whalers jerseys)....this is going to be a blast!!!
Cheers,
Glenn
