This card has two of my three favorite fighters on it, would have had all three but Pettis pulled out with the knee injury. I really hope McCall can finally notch his first UFC victory. Mr. Wonderful is going to be in really tough against Machida. I expect Aldo to starch Jung, but it should be entertaining nevertheless.

Main Bouts (on Pay-Per-View):
Jose Aldo (22-1; #1 Featherweight) vs. Chan Sung Jung (13-3; #10 Featherweight)
Lyoto Machida (19-3; #2 Middleweight) vs. Phil Davis (11-1; #5 Middleweight)
Cezar Ferreira (5-2) vs. Thiago “Marreta” Santos (8-1)
Thales Leites (20-4) vs. Tom Watson (16-5)
John Lineker (21-6; #7 Flyweight) vs. Jose Maria Tome (33-3)

Preliminary Bouts (on FX):
Vinny Magalhaes (10-6-1) vs. Anthony Perosh (13-7)
Amanda Nunes (7-3) vs. Sheila Gaff (10-5)
Sergio Moraes (7-2) vs. Neil Magny (8-1)
Ian McCall (11-4-1; #3 Flyweight) vs. Iliarde Santos (27-1-1)

Preliminary Bouts (on Facebook):
Rani Yahya (18-7) vs. Josh Clopton (16-1-1)
Ednaldo Oliveira (13-1-1) vs. Francimar Barroso (15-3)
Viscardi Andrade (13-5) vs. Bristol Marunde (12-8)

Just about time for some fights.

I am quite possibly the biggest Phil Davis fan; I thought he lost 30-27, at best Davis won one round. Just poor judging in that fight.

Dana White ✔ @danawhite

Wow!!! I had Machida winning all 3 rds but that's what happens when u leave it up to the judges!

The judging in the UFC is as bad as boxing.

Dana White is a tool. This is not what should happen when you leave it to the judges. How about the UFC bring competent judges when they travel for international shows? Marc Ratner continues to fly judge Sal D'Amato all over the world, and to various cards in the U.S., he scored it for Davis. On the UFC on FOX 8 card the weekend before he turned in the unconscionable 30-27 scorecard in favor of Trevor Smith over Ed Herman, he had Guida beating Hioki 29-28. He is not a good judge, yet he is continually rolled out by the UFC. Wonder why Dana and co. do that?

Fighting to a decision is a perfectly valid form of gameplan. This is A SPORT. But so long as incompetent judges populate these cards we'll be subjected to more of that inane stupidity from Dana White.

I really wish they would get rid of the 10 point must system in MMA, I don't think it was a landslide victory or anything, but Machida won that fight.

I don't think that they necessarily need to get rid of the 10 point must system. I think it's better than the Pride scoring system, and the half point system being pushed by Doc Hamilton won't solve the problem that plague judging now.

The judging criteria are Effective Striking, Effective Grappling, Effective Aggression, which is defined as "moving forward scoring with a legal technique or attacking from the guard with threatening submissions," and Cage/Ring Control, which is defined as "dictating the pace, place and position of the fight."

Effective aggression relies on the fighter actually connecting with strikes, and Octagon control, despite what many believe, does not necessarily mean the fighter that is walking forward.

If a fighter like Machida is able to parry strikes, land his own, and then circle back out while his opponent is coming at him he (Machida) is the one controlling the pace, place, and position of the fight, and being the effective aggressor.
