Just busted a box of Chronology and I have to say,If I was in a situation where 160 bucks(cdn) was extremely hard to come by and purchased this ,I would have been completely devastated.....

The break was so bad It's not worth my time to scan. Further more, now that I see the checklist and other case breaks I will not go out on a limb......Price point ......the worst product I've ever busted. Way too many non relevant players with "SPECIAL" cards and guys that have no business having an auto in any release in the first place. Such a shame as I was really wanted to collect something in this release.

Heck at 200 bucks for 12-13 Classics upon original release ,you had a better break even if you hit a Shoebottom in your six autos

I'm extremely sorry for this rant but it's a huge, HUGE buyer beware and if you haven't bought any yet......please do the research and know what your getting into before you spend your money on this

On a positive note,I only bought 1 box

Thanks for reading

Dean

Consider yourself lucky that you only broke one box. I knew it was the worse product Upper Deck has EVER put out and I still bought one.

That box was so bad, I just knew the next box had to be better, so I bought two!

It was just as bad. I am not planning on selling but I turned a little over $300 USD into $40.00 real quick.

Just be glad you broke only one pack of this garbage and I have been a huge supporter of Upper Deck through the years.

Bad, just plain bad.

I was so looking forward to this release as some of my PC guys were returning to UD releases. Gartner, Larmer, Vachon and especially Liut and **Burke as Whalers

**Note - after 5 days I have yet to see a Burke mini card

What I didn't process even after looking at the checklist was how much filler is in this

The franchise history autos feature some of the most forgettable players in NHL history.

With all apologies to their families, I would not want to pull a Ledyard, Lumme, Cross or Crossman if I purchased any.

I am old enough to at least remember the old North Stars and guys who I imagine anyone under 40 would say who dat?

Franchises and Classics had a lot of non HOFers but did it ever feel like this product?

I like a lot about this product. The price and plethora of marginal players not-so-much

Sorry about your break Dean

Sorry to hear about that, Dean.

I like the product, the designs, and what UD wanted to do with this product, I really do, but the pricepoint makes everyone take a bath on this product it seems.

I hope UD can find a way to lower the price for Chronology 'Volume 2' next year.

The only thing I liked was a couple flames autos that haven’t been seen, otherwise hard pass

It’s great to get some obscure autos but no one wants to pull them lol, especially in a pricey product. Curious to hear who you pulled?

I know, I've watched a couple case breaks on YouTube, and wondered what the case hit was? I guess the value is in the time capsules, but that's just another gamble inside a gamble.

My best,

Ken

In UDs defence, part of the reason is the way there hockey market works. Unless it's a rookie or every high end star, even auto cards are not worth much at all.

A product like this has much more value in basketball or baseball, where hall of fame autos always have value.

That being said, if this was a football product we'd be getting twice as many autos.

It's pointless even saying what the non hits were and have come to grips with the 160 donation to Upper Decks business account. That 160 I paid was a box break special as my local LCS is charging 200 a box otherwise

I hope my loss is someone's gain here on the site. Hopefully somebody saw this post and was going to buy this product and saved themselves some money not doing so.

Too bad Dean. The product looks like a high end Masterpiece product, with the people they have why not just recreate that product. It was fairly successful I believe.

Sorry about your break Dean

Saw a burke mini auto pulled from chonology. Check the zerree youtube breaks, I think

I think some of the 'obscure' players ARE the draw. Unfortunately the price is not in line with what you pull. Of course a lot of box breaks are like that.

I personally would love a UD Masterpiece comeback. With all these retired players under contract with UD now, they have the player content to do it.

The pricepoint is key though, as we've seen with Chronology.

Ouch! I hate that you had to suffer this bust of a bust Dean. The product looks great at first glance and even a scan through the preview but the checklist is riddled with no names and beyond. With all due respect to Greg Gilbert and his Fam I hope he didn't end up in your disappointed hands. I think this is an eye opener of what this type of product is...hopefully not a continuing trend of UD product filler although not much has generated my actual interest since Classic Sigs or the 04-05 ITG.

Unfortunately, hockey has no value for "special" players, even good players. For the most part it is driven by rookies and a select group of veterans and HOF players. There are scores of players who have long productive careers but whose auto sells for a buck on Ebay. UD needs to stay away from this type of product. Personally, something like Platinum is probably where the median market is. Either way, unless you luck out, you will probably take a bath with UD hockey wax...and I feel for you, it is no fun when you pay this much for a product and the bathwater is cold and dirty.

But all boxes are not going to be great, we have seen that with other products. I agree the pricing does seem rather high though. I like the product because of the players that never had a certified auto card they now do.
