After the latest USPS price increases I have found that UPS has better rates to ship from the U.S. to Canada.. are there bad points in using UPS Vs. USPS?

UPS has TERRIBLE brokerage charges - often having the brokerage charges be nearly equal compared to the purchase price of the item. I do not buy from stores/dealers that list UPS as the only shipping method to Canada.

One example, I got a bill from UPS regarding a CD that Microsoft sent me - this was a free upgrade from Windows whatever to the next Windows, UPS wanted to charged me tax on $300 (purchase price of full version of Windows - this was just an upgrade version, usually $100) and brokerage on a $300 item which was $40, so I had a $76 (likely more with exchange rate) dollar charge to get a free upgrade. I refused it, call MS and they said they were having problems and they shipped me a copy via Canada Post instead - that arrived with no fees.

UPS is evil.
