So I just wanted to see where everyone was with this idea of collecting.
If you are not familiar with it you basically collect a set number of cards and trade them in for one foil card. That foil card can even be traded for something even more.
5 young guns (all of the same player) = 1 foil young guns (of that player)
5 foils = 1 Gold Rainbow foils
So 25 young guns = 1 Gold rainbow
Now this bring me to my question. I was just browsing eBay when I came across a Nico Gold Rainbow BGS 9.5 for $400
Now his base YG sells for about $25-$30. But let’s take the low end and say $25
If you were to just sell all those base YGs your at $625. $225 more than the elusive gold rainbow.
That’s a heck of a difference and that just for Nico. Auston Matthews now was the first high end rookie that this was available for and his YG is going at about $170
If you took 25 of his cards to get the elusive gold rainbow your looking at $4250 in “trade” for one card that your hoping holds up.
To me this program is a big gamble, but also a neat idea in making the online purchasing attractive.
