Capitals - Lightning Preview and can be seen here: CSN-DC (HD), SUN (HD)

The Capitals (34-16-5) couldn't avoid a second loss in three games. In the shootout, Jose Theodore got caught off guard on the Rangers' fourth attempt when Ryan Callahan's shot off the crossbar deflected in off the back of Theodore's stick.

"To be honest, I thought when it hits the crossbar and comes back out it's no play," Theodore said. "I didn't really try to get out of the way because for me it was no goal. ... Obviously, I was wrong, so it's a lesson that I learned, I guess."

The Capitals have beaten Tampa Bay (19-25-11) seven straight times, winning 4-2 on Nov. 10 and 7-4 on Jan. 1 this season.

The Lightning are 2-1-0 to start a season-high six-game homestand. However, they've faced the two worst teams in the Eastern Conference - the New York Islanders and Atlanta - and Toronto, which sits 11th in the conference and a point ahead of Tampa.

Tampa Bay held on for a 6-4 victory Thursday night over the Maple Leafs as Martin St. Louis matched a season high with four points. In a 4:13 span in the first period, St. Louis assisted on three scores and notched his 20th goal.

Tampa's goalie situation ain't too pretty at the moment.

Hoping Ramo gets the call for TB as I used to collect him and enjoy watching him from time to time. Cept I hope he gets shelled tonight! ;)

And please keep quiet about a certain event that may happen tonight... don't wannt jinx it. Shhhhh

Well, McKenna has been a pleasant surprise, that's for sure. I don't see any reason he won't start again tonight.

Michal Neuvirth will probably make his NHL debut Saturday.
Although nothing is set in stone, Neuvirth should be considered the probable goaltender. This is quite the feat for a goaltender who started the season in the East Coast Hockey League. However, he's been giving the opportunity to serve as Jose Theodore's understudy with Brent Johnson and goaltending prospect Simeon Varlamov both out with injuries.

Staffan Kronwall is expected to play on Saturday.
Washington claimed Kronwall on re-entry waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs on February 6th. It was always the Capitals intention to have him play for their NHL squad, but his Washington debut was initially delayed due to immigration issues. Kronwall hasn't played in an NHL game since April 5th, 2008.

Great achievement by Green, records don't get broken everyday in the NHL. Good to see this kid get her done.

Nice to see Greenie's dad in attendance to watch his son break the record.

Congrats Mike!!! No need to stop at 8 though.;)
