Ron - we do valuations for insurance purposes but we are about 1 3/4 hours west of you (403 to 401). We would be happy to help out.

If you want to deal with someone locally, speak to your insurance agent - he will tell you who can do it locally.

Ron, it is important to note that places like State Farm will not insure a collection of your size under typical house-style umbrellas. When collections get up into the 30, 40, 50,000 dollar values (as I'm sure yours are), they elevate the insurance levels to business tiers.

I looked into it with State Farm, and it was not feasible.

I'd love to hear what you come up with!!

Same here Shawn. I looked into it a few years back. I evaluated my collection in the 30-40,000$ dollar range at that time and it would have costed me 475$ a month in insurance to keep it covered (on top of any other insurance - they insurance company refered to it as a ryder???). At that rate, It just wasn't feasable on my end either. Cheaper to get a fireproof safe that I keep my most valuable cards in and hope that nothing ever happens to the rest.

If your agent does not provide that service, they can recommend a carrier. ING offers that coverage (but now ING is called something else). These policies insure collectables, fine cars, furs, gun collections, etc... (they are not ryders on your home owners - they are separate policies).

ING Canada is now known as Intact Financial

That does seem very high. That is $5,700 a year for $40k coverage. I pay $16 per $1000 per year in business insurance (which includes other coverage). So, my equivalent for you would be $640 per year. That is through State Farm.

$16/1000 seems high Michael. I pay $1100 a year for $400 K plus it includes $2,000,000 coverage (slip/fall... can't think of the proper name). I use DPL - local firm. PM me and I can give you Bob's info (related to khpick - member on this site).

I can't believe it... In less then 8 years I'll have to start dealing with Insurance... man I hate becoming a big boy :)

Thanks for the info... I think this may require a further call to my insurance company.

Thanks
