My First Game-Worn Jersey... As Authentic As It Gets! (UPDATED WITH VIDEO+PHOTOS)
Folks,
Tonight my local QMJHL team, the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, held their annual "Pink at the Rink" game to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Eagles wore special pink jerseys during the game which were raffled off, I believe they sold 2000 tickets and raised $10,000. I bought eight tickets and luckily for me I won!
The player was chosen randomly and I scored Glace Bay native Logan Shaw, who was drafted in the third round (76th overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2011 draft. I got to go down on the ice after the game to meet Logan and accept the jersey:
Here are some more pictures of the jersey itself, a few are blurry because of the dim light in my basement but the close-up ones came out better.
The jersey was only worn this once so it doesn't show a lot of use, but there are a few black marks on it and a smidgen of a board-burn on the nameplate (hard to see in the photos). The numbers, nameplate, and RBK vectors are all sewn-on patches like on standard gamers. The emblem, shoulder patches, CHL logo, QMJHL logo, and cancer ribbon are screen-printed/dyed. Would have been nice to see the whole jersey patched like an regular gamer but I can't complain considering I only spent $40 on tickets, was lucky enough to win, and got to meet the player on the ice
For those wondering the Eagles lost the game 5-3 to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Disappointing outcome for the game but seeing my winning ticket number on the scoreboard lifted my spirits pretty quick.
There are a couple more games this season where the Eagles will be holding raffles for game-worn jerseys so needless to say I will be back for those as well!

UPDATE:
The Eagles posted a highlight video of the game on their website, since the game wasn't broadcast on cable it's the in-house feed synced with the radio broadcast so quality isn't that great. Here is the link:

Logan can be seen at the following times, wearing the #11 jersey:
1:30 - On the bench, middle of the frame.
5:10 - On the penalty kill when the Armada score.
6:34 - On the ice after another Armada goal.

It wasn't his best game for sure but nonetheless you can see him wearing the jersey in the video.
They also start showing some of the raffle winners accepting the jerseys at the end of the video but it ends before they show me. Photos of all the jersey winners are on their Facebook page.
