Crown Royale Hodgson Silohouette /49

It will be an extremely popular card, worth a ton of money, and high on any Canucks or Hodgson fan's wantlist.

That doesn't mean it's a rookie card.

No it won't. The guidelines are set in stone on this matter. Let one slip by and chaos ensues.

It's already happened. Let's face it, the Silhouettes are arguably the most popular RC set from Panini. Hodgson is in the set and every other card is a RC. Both set collectors and Hodgson collectors will also consider it a RC along with everyone selling it on eBay.

By this same standard, all 09-10 Cup RCs that got released in October wouldn't be considered RCs but that isn't the case either.

Sidney Crosby McDonald's RC is a prime example of what happens when the collecting public wants something. No guidelines are set in stone. If they were, then they wouldn't be guidelines. 99.9% of the listing for the Hodgson /49 are going to indicate it's a rookie card or RC in the title. Hodgson and CR collectors that are lucky enough to land one will also refer to it as a rookie in order to justify the massive expense that they will shell out to land one. Just because you or I or Andy may not feel it's a RC, the 49 people that own it, will.

I thought the guidelines came in AFTER that release as a result of the confusion it caused?

I think we all know by now collectors will decide what a RC is. My comment was more a tongue-in-cheek jab at Beckett or something to that effect. I dunno. Whatev. I'll shut-up now.

where are these guidelines? thought everyone stopped reading beckett and what they said didn't matter anymore(doesn't to me). sure looks like a rookie card to me. a damn fine lookin one at that. good luck to anyone trying to get one

Lol, sorry. Can't tell tone online.

Honestly, what's a RC and what isn't a RC is just an issue of semantics and categorization. With respect to "rookie card year" cards, the RC tag hasn't played a big role in demand or valuation for a long time.

So let us pedants tag-or-not-tag in peace! :D

Unbelievably someone got it. :jawdrop:

*Sheepish grin* LOL, I guess you're not the only one...

Problem is I'm a verbal typist. I'll sometimes read aloud as I type and then forget that what I'm hearing won't carry the same meaning as what I'm typing. :o

Da well.

Especially for this sub set in Crown, the majority of people chasing down this Hodgson will be either a set or player collector. So being an official RC means absolutely nothing to the 90% of these people, myself included.

I agree 100%, good luck to those looking to go wading in the deep end to pick one up

...And Saint Ryan raised the Crown Royale Cody Hodgson Silhouettes Card limited to 49 copies up on high, saying, "O LORD, bless this Thy Crown Royale Cody Hodgson Silhouettes Card limited to 49 copies that with it Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits, in Thy mercy." And the LORD did grin and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats and large chu... ["skip a bit, brother"]... And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Crown Royale Cody Hodgson Silhouettes Card limited to 49 copies towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight for thinking this is NOT a rookie card, shall snuff it."

There, written in stone. It's a rookie card.

The Immaculate Predilection.
