so you are suggesting tanking this year, trying to get crosby 2.0, (or just not being competitive this year) and then maybe with your cap space woo Weber when his contract ends? I think the 2012 Penguins and Detroit would like to warn you of the problems with that plan...

Um, according to cap geek, he is a RFA right now. We dont need to tank anything. We are still a playoff team without Jagr and Carle.

The problem is that Weber won't sign an offer sheet because he knows, no matter how crazy it is, Nashville will match it and he will be stuck there for the duration of that contract. Right now he has a lot of leverage moving through the end of the season to pick and choose where he gets to go and I don't think he's willing to risk signing an offer sheet to do anything now.

Who knows though - crazy stuff seems to happen daily and people get wow'ed by $100mil contracts.

Seems like all the Flyers reporters are saying we are staying pat with this top 5: Timmo, Coburn, Schenn, Mez, and Grossmann.

Next years ufa's: Enstrom and probably Weber. That would be a defensive coup right there

Has Pronger officially been declared out for the season or career? I havent seen much on him.

Thanks

Ruslan Fedotenko has signed on the dotted line with Philadelphia.

He agreed to a one-year, $1.75 million deal with the Flyers after spending the past two seasons with the New York Rangers. In 2011-12, Fedotenko produced nine goals and 20 points in 73 games. He started his career in Philadelphia in 2000-01.

Pronger was helping Homer with watching tape of defensemen prior to the draft. He moved to St. Louis supposedly to be closer to family because someone is ill. Pronger's wife spoke months ago that he suffered from headaches daily and had very few good days. Pronger has not announced his retirement. Homer is not going to steer him to retire. He is night and day but all signs are saying he is not going to play hockey again. I hope I am wrong but there is an awkward silence when asking about Prongers condition.

Weber is going to Vancouver next year so all you folks can give up the "to Philly" talk.

Can somebody theoretically sign him to a 1 year offer sheet for the league max? I don't know how offer sheets work. That way, a team could woo him away, but if Nashville keeps him, they've gotta pay 20% of their overall cap.

It's a ridiculous notion, but one that could probably help him either get out of Nashville if he wants out that badly...or get paaaaid

Yes, a team could sign him to a 1 year offer sheet @ max $$$ but if Nashville doesn't match then the team would have to give up 4 first-round picks. They have to be their own (not traded 1st rnd) picks.

Here is a link to some more info ... offer sheets

Rags sign Halpern 1 year @ 700k

Not exactly Prust, but along with asham and pyatt, the Rags are really going hard for that strong, hard working core that they have had for the last couple years.

Fingers are still crossed that they don't go for Nash, but I wouldn't mind seeing Ryan come over....
