I have recently seen several Patrice Bergeron cards from 11-12 The Cup show up on EBAY - Limited Logos and Stanley Cup Signatures - that were not on the final checklist released by Upper Deck (though they were on an earlier checklist version supposedly released prematurely). These are the first copies of these cards that I have seen since the release. I messaged the sellers and they said they pulled them from tins.

And in another thread http://www.hobbyinsider.net/forum/showthread.php?t=334635, go_leafs comments that Adam Henrique and Ben Scrivens rookies were live in tins from a recent YouTube break but were redemptions in earlier breaks. He thinks these are from a new wave of The Cup so maybe the Bergerons are too. Is that possible? Were tins put together later after the original pack-out that include autograph cards received back from some players in the interim? Anybody have any more info on this or know someone at Upper Deck who can confirm or refute this?

This is good to hear, I have yet to see a Turco/Belfour dual Programme of Excellence card yet... I would have expected at least one of the five copies to have come up by now.

Very glad to hear it.

There's been a few Ranford Signature Patches floating through eBay already.... that card was a redemption (that I'm still waiting for). If they had the card in hand in time for a second packout, means I shouldn't have to wait too much longer for my copy.

Also wondering if that means the Ranford / Cheevers dual Honorable Numbers may exist now? Saw it on some checklists, was missing from others. Only 30 copies, but I'm sure there would have been at least one surface online if it had been made, and packed out in the first wave.

Yep the following cards that were redemption are lived in the new wave

Landeskog
Larsson
Scrivens
Brayden McNabb
Marcus Foligno ???
even some Gretzkys as well (i saw a Honorable Numbers /9 and a Limited Logos /10 pulled from gbs)

and a couple more that i dont remember

Cheevers is signing with UD again? I dunno, I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. Last I heard, his relationship with UD was strained at best. That's why you haven't seen hard-signed cards of his since 06-07ish. Unless they have some cache of stickers they're going to use for his side of the card, I'd be hard pressed to believe it is getting made.

This is brutal. How can you have 2 "waves" of product released and available hits in one wave that weren't in the other? Ridiculous

Hopefully UD did some math and held back some of these now-live cards to account for some of the redemptions that could still be out there. I'd be super mad if I were to pull a redemption for a card that is live in wave two but suddenly "out of stock" at UD.

You would think that they would have packed out redemptions for an entire print run of a card in wave one because they would have no idea when the cards would come back, so it stands to reason there may be wave one redemptions still out there that have all been packed live into wave two.

Say they packed out ten redemptions for the Gretzky Limited Logos and the cards arrived at UD a month or so after pack-out. Maybe half of them were redeemed by then so those would have went to customers, the other half could have went into wave two even though there could still be five redemptions out there in wave one tins.

Something is shady about this, I for one wouldn't trust any of the older redemptions for these cards that suddenly appeared live in tins.

If you are haveing trouble adding nails to your coffin, just follow the UD company they will show exactly how to do it,

This has nothing but trouble marked all over it.

A second wave of the cup might have been a good choice for UD, instead of listening to collectors cry about redemptions they have it live in packs which is better for collectors and the company. Might seem sketchy to some, but I would be happier pulling a live card 2 months after release. Damned if you do,damned if you don't. Just my opinion.

I see both sides of the coin here. I agree with you that I like the fact they packed out some of the live cards they didn't have the first time around. On the other hand, it makes me wonder if they did the math with how many redemptions were packed out the first time around, how many got redeemed, and how many live versions are packed out now. I mean if I pulled a redemption for a Gretzky Limited Logos from a 2012 product and was told the stock was depleted heads would roll!

Yeah that happened to me with some opc premiere, It's gonna be finders keepers every man for himself out there.lol. They must have only sent out only a few redemptions early,I have noticed that a dual patch redemption/35 has only hit eBay twice since release ,though you never know around there. I find that if you are politely aggressive UD will take good care of you.The saga continues...

Yes its all very convenient for Upper Deck. Joe Superstar's card has a print run of 10? No problem. There are actually 15+ out there if you count the redemptions in Wave 1 as well. Uh-oh, out of stock for the Joe Superstar redemptions now? Thats ok, here's a Joe Scrub auto as a replacement......

This also leads me to believe that UD front loads the product. Meaning in wave 1, prob a lot more ARP 99s, making ppl want to buy more cases.

IIRC, Cup 99s were a lot easier to pull from release to about January last year and almost impossible after January for 10-11 Cup.

If UD fully intended to pack out a second wave then maybe they had the foresight to hold back some redemptions and wait for the live cards to come in, keeping the ratio of live-to-redemptions even. I'm not sure how they could have done that though because they'd have no way of telling when or if the cards would arrive at all.

Using the Gretzky Limited Logos as an example, there is a good chance they could have packed out redemptions for all ten copies, maybe redeemed five when they came in and packed out five live copies in wave two. That would leave a negative balance of five Gretzky redemptions out there in first wave tins that would have to be replaced and that wouldn't be fair to whoever pulls them out of first wave packs. Yes, pulling a live version would be much better but that live version that you might pull out of wave two might be the very one I would be entitled to if I pulled the redemption from wave one. I'd be out of luck just because you bought the newer wave.

Again, maybe UD planned for the second wave in advance but without knowing if or when the cards would arrive they would still be gambling on it.

This post pretty much sums up my concerns:
