I just noticed and was very surprised to see that the Canucks placed Nicklas Jensen on waivers today . I think that would be a great pick up for any team the 29th overall pick in 2011 . Thoughts?

He shouldn't have to go through waivers due to his age and contract type, must be a mistake in my mind. If he is on waivers I imagine another team would quickly give him a shot, but I do think it was a mistake.

Okay, I think the "if he clear waivers" part of the TSN story is incorrect. I don't think he has to clear waivers yet.
A player is exempt from the waiver process until he's played 5 years of pro hockey or 160 NHL games.

Take a look at 13.4. I can't imagine how Jensen is waiver eligible.
edit - The TSN report isn't from a TSN staff member but the Canadian Press - so the error isn't on TSN's end.
