So, I really wanted to know if a Retail tin was worth buying, basically by comparing cards you can get to Ebay sales, see if you actually can draw a profit from the fun of breaking these.

So I bought two tins, and split the packs open, and here are the total results, with The low to high sales numbers (All roughly rounded)

UD Canvas Felix Potvin (SV $15-$30)
UD Nathon Mackinnon MVP (SV $4-$11)
Ud YG Canvas Vladamir Tarasenko (SV $8 - $12)
Ud YG Brendan Gallagher (SV $12 - $25)
UD YG Mikael Granlund (SV $4 - $7)
OPC Retro Jaromir Jagr (SV $1 - $3)
Ud Game Jersey Mike Richards ($1.50 - $3.00
Ud YG Jack Campbell ($3 - $5)
UD YG Hampus Lindholm ($2 - $5)
UD YG Petr Mrazek ($6 - $8)
UD Rookie Materials Tanner Pearson (Jersey) (This card has not sold yet)
UD Young Guns Mark Arcobelloe ($1.50 - $3.50)
UD Hockey Heros 1990 Ed Belfour (this card has not sold yet)
UD Hockey Heros 1990 Dominik Hasek (This card has not sold yet)
OPC Marquee Rookies Matt Nieto ($.88 - $2)
OPC Marquee Rookies Retro Carl Soderberg (1 sale at $1.10)
OPC Marquee Rookies Ryan Murray ($1 - $2)
OPC Marquee Rookies Marek Mazanec ($.60 - $2)
Ud Canvas Shea weber (($.60 - $1.50)
OPC Retro Loui Eriksson ($.50 - $3.00)
UD Canvas Sean Couturier ($2 - $3.50)
Ud Canvas Martin St. Louis (One sold at $1.53)
Ud Canvas Henrik Lundqvist (One sold at $1.23)

Not Including the cards that have never sold we end at:

$67.44 - 130.36 Not including the cost of shipping.

Purchase price for two tins is $60.00 +Tax

So in Conclusion of these two tins of UD S2...I didn't pull a single PC card,
so they are all for trade. >.> thats my luck

The Potvin Canvas is nice.

Yeah, I have to admit, when I pulled it, the fact it was a retired player I went 'Hey cool! thats a neat card' but I thought it would be just like the other base cards. Little did I realize they must be a short run, or just very few chances of grabbing one.

If your intent is to draw a profit from breaking anything, you might want to re-consider and just have fun.

No not at all. I like to break things for the fun of breaking things, Same reason I like to trade, and the same reason I go to my LCS for trade nights, I love this hobby. I'm very new to it, and there is always the implication that the hobby is going down, because the cards are over priced, and you'd never make a dime off of the cards you're buying.

The reason a lot of us collect, is not just to spend money, but because we find it worth while, some in selling, some in buying, some just in pure trading. I just figured that I'd like to see if the Tins where worth the value.

To me, they are, and I can now measure that in the fact that if I spend $60.00 I get around the same amount worth in cards, plus tons of a base set that I get to work on.

I'd like to see this done with more sets, see if Value really lies in the cards, like the cup, its an awesome product, and when I get the chance to trade for it I do! But how often does a box break actually reach that value?

Its just an interesting statistic, and for me, it definitely does add more fun that you can score big. I mean, look at that Potvin card..thats the same price as one tin if I did want to sell it, or at least its one really awesome card that I can now hopefully trade for some Flames, or Ducks players! =D

Sorry..I got a bit wordy here >.>

Well stated!

Regarding The Cup, the higher end you go the greater the variability in the value of the cards you pull. Like under $100 to over $2000 for a $450 tin! Of course, it evens out somewhat on the case level.
