GDT: Game 2 - Chicago @ St. Louis - April 19th.

I was surprised that Seabrook dished out that hit he did on Backes, given his own concussion history.

Anyone can call me a homer if they want to, but I don't believe for a second that Seabrook intended to hit him in the head. He is not that type of player, never has been. It happened in a split second, he expected Backes to continue carrying the puck and turn towards the slot. He lead with his shoulder going for a chest hit, no elbow or anything, he was going for a clean shoulder to chest hit, a huge decleater yes, but I believe he intended for a clean chest shot. Unfortunately he caught him in the face and I seriously do not believe he meant to hit him there, and knowing his character, I would bet money he feels awful about it and if he hasn't already, he will call or text Backes and apologize for it. It happens all the time in hockey, we just don't hear about it very often, but these guys do communicate with each other off the ice and players do apologize when they injure someone whether intentional or not.

Was it a bad hit, of course. Was it intentional, I do not believe the outcome was what he intended. If it was Keith, I might be persuaded to believe it was intentional, but not Seabs.

Seabrook has already said he didn't mean to hit him in the head and seems sincere. Brought up his own history too.

But going for that big hit with the lead and less than 5 minutes left, bad decision.

And you can't say that the Canucks don't have any either. Alex Burrows, prime example here.

Not sure why this really has any relevance.

Just because another team plays more dirty or has more dirty players, it doesn't give a player on your team a pass or exemption.

The Bruins are the dirtiest team in the league, and they make no bones about it. They know they play over the edge and don't care what you think. At least they don't try to dress it up any other way.

With that said, I was glad the Hawks beat them last year in the SCF.

I was not being sarcastic, I was being serious. Duncan Keith is not a dirty player. If he were to be a dirty player, he wouldn't be considered one of the best defensemen in the league. If he were also that dirty, it would be hard for him to be nominated for Norris Trophy.

Did you never hear of a player by the name of Chris Pronger?

Seriously dude, I enjoy tons of your posts, but you are so off-base with this one.

Ok, I am young got in to hockey the year before the hawks won it in 2010, ok whatever. I don't know what Chris Pronger did prior the 2008-09 season. All I know is that his career ended from a concussion. Like I said, I may be young, I just never knew that Pronger was a player like that. Sure I had a bad feeling about him back in the cup finals in 2010, but never would have thought of putting the two together.

Im just sitting here trying to figure out how a smack to the giblets is an awful horrible crime, but a leeping shoulder through a guys head is not nearly as bad. Seriously. How has no one pointed this out. Leeping shoulders into heads end careers. Sticks to the giblets end shifts. Maybe a couple shifts.

apparently grabbing your own giblets deserves 5x time the fine as smacking another player's from behind so they don't even see it coming.

With that said, Lidstrom did miss a couple games, thanks to Patrick Sharp.

i remember one particular Blues-Stars tilt in the late '90s when Pronger lined up next to Derian Hatcher on a faceoff. i watched them and Pronger hit Hatcher right between his eyes with the end of his stick blade, cutting him and dropping him to the ice. Pronger skated off like he was innocent and no penalty was called. LOVED IT as a Blues fan. so yeah, he could be a nasty sombish.

and as everyone bashes teams that play rough and dirty, doesn't anyone remember the Broad Street Bullies? they won 2 Cups being nasty m.f.'s and intimidating EVERYONE.

lastly, i absolutely love (please note the dripping sarcasm) how y'all Hawks fans are calling the Blues the bLOSE... haha... as they have a 2-0 series lead on your team...

shouldn't we be calling them bWINNERS?

;)

The hawks are probably the only team that doesnt. The hawks are a classy team. Bollig has big checks, as does Bickell and Seabs. We dont have people who specifically go out and attack other players *cough cough* Lucic *cough cough*

So what about the knee-to-knee hit from Bickell on Sobotka? No objective viewer could watch that game today and call the Blackhawks a classy team.

Here is my dripping with sarcasm response. The Blose haven't won anything, yet. 2 playoff wins does not make you a winner. 15 playoff wins does not make you a winner. Do you think the Canucks consider themselves winners because they won 15 playoff games a couple seasons back? Did they raise a Stanley Cup Playoffs 15 Game Winner banner to the rafters? Don't think so.

I love how the Blose fans mysteriously appear when their team, who is the higher seed and has home ice, actually won 2 games at home. It took triple overtime in game 1 and overtime in game 2, but hey, they held serve (WHICH IS WHAT YOU'RE EXPECTED TO DO) at home in the playoffs, congrats. You'd think the Blose fans would have learned their lesson after last season where they got up 2-0 in a series, both 1 goal games at home, how did that work out for them, I forget..... Oh well, in the end, they are Blose fans, don't expect them to remember what happened a short year ago. :)

I get it, when you aren't used to seeing your team win in the playoffs, it gets your blood pumping a bit and all of a sudden you are "Winners". The golf references come out, chests puff out, the keyboard gets more use then ever before. I remember some fans being all jacked up last year and throwing out golf references and "over rated" comments when their team was up 3-1 in a series against the Hawks, I wonder how that worked out for them......

Come back when the Blose actually win a Cup, then they will be "Winners". Until then, most Hawk fans I know will always consider the guys to the south the Blose and they aren't even on the same level as Carolina, Tampa, Anaheim, etc. Those teams are considered Winners as they won the only game that matters, the 4th win in the SC Finals. End sarcasm.

Sure, that was a stupid play, but the hawks don't do those stupid types of plays.

Considering you just admitted it was a stupid play committed by a Blackhawk, I would reason that the Blackhawks do those types of stupid plays.

To further prove my point, listen closely to seconds 00:45-00:49 of this video to hear Duncan Keith say "Wakey wakey Backes wakey wakey"

What kills me is that the Nuckleheads had a 2-0 and 3-2 lead in games, and blew it. I would sooner be swept.

Wait, what? Did you just say "that was a stupid play, but the hawks don't do those stupid types of plays"?

Am I reading this correctly, or do I need to get new glasses? This is one of those "WTF, DID HE REALLY JUST SAY THAT" moments for me.....

wow. just wow. I know a lot of crap is said on the ice, but that's pretty brutal. That is a total classless thing to say. That's a new low for Keith IMO. One thing to play with an edge and cross the line on the ice, but when a player is hurt and you taunt them, that's just plain poor sportsmanship. Zero respect there.

That's harsh on Keith's part for sure. Not defending him in any way, no defending it. BUT, if you heard the stuff these guys say every night on the ice, you would be shicked(seeing as how this is shocking to you guys so far). I have heard the same type stuff and even worse from kids at the local rink, even 12-18 year olds.

If you don't believe every team has players who do stuff and say stuff like this, well.... It happens, it's very unfortunate, but you know what, it happens way more then you think and they still shake hands afterwards because every one of those guys know it happens and it is done in the heat of the moment. If they miked and recorded every player in every game and released the audio to the public, there wouldn't be many hockey fans left in the world. The stuff these guys do and say to each other is flat out disgusting at times.

Not surprising, just disappointing. I know how brutal the chirping can get, you just hate to see, or hear that directed at an injured player.
