So just got this ESPN update and thought I would share.

Flyers: Vincent Lecavalier Says It's "Fair to Say" He Doesn't Want to Return to PHI Unless Craig Berube is Fired.

Is Berube holding back the game of Vinny? Or is it father time?

Thoughts?

Maybe Toronto and Philadelphia can arrange a straight-up trade:

Vinny for Dion.

That way, both teams can get rid of a player not in their plans, and both teams can get an overpaid, underachieving cap hit/player in return for the other.

:D

Seriously though, Vinny feeding Kessel is intriguing, as is Phaneuf on an actual physical team. Toronto would have to give something else up though or retain salary.

The Leafs would be nuts to make that deal. Although Phaneuf is overpaid, he's far from a terrible defenseman. Vinny is Done with a capital D

Frank - I think Vinny is all but done, yes. I also think you are overestimating Phaneuf.

However, even though he is almost done, Vinny would still be the best center Kessel has ever had in Toronto. And that's the really sad part.

Not sure Vinny is done just seems the past 3 years the injury bug has hit him hard. When he's healthy he's a great player.

Flip him for Teddy Purcell.... Cap hits are a wash (4.5 each) but Vinny has two extra years at 3m per.... that'd be my only concern.

Would he be the answer to all of Edmonton's problems? I don't think so, but I think he'd help that team big time.

I seem to recall Vinny having some kind of NTC / NMC though.... and if that's the case, I'd be shocked to see him waive it to go to Edmonton.

Send him to E-town... that would be awesome, as long as the Flyers assume a large portion of his salary. :)
