Hello all,

The following cards are pickups from the month of July. As many are aware, I'm chasing very limited sets that are now 14 years old, so it is a daunting challenge to say the least. The aide I've received from the different forums and facebook group members in finding these cards has been superb, so thank you to everyone who has provided information leading to a purchase. July was not particularly heavy, but I guarantee the quality has not faltered one bit. Without further adieu, let the show begin!

#7. 2005-06 MVP Materials Dan Cloutier (2-colour)

You can tell a card is getting on in years when the featured goaltender is wearing a combo helmet. I believe the last to do so was DiPietro in one of his last comebacks. A solid swatch with near perfect 50-50 maroon-navy split, can't ask for much more.

#6. 2005-06 UD Powerplay Specialists Jersey Roman Turek (3-colour)

This addition gives me 5 unique 3-colour jerseys from this set. What is particularly interesting about this card is that it was a promotional feature on the Powerplay box itself, though I can't recall if it was the hobby or blaster box. Turek also never actually played the 2005-06 campaign in the NHL, opting to play in his native country after the lockout.

#5. 2005 UD Canadian Fall Expo Roberto Luongo (4/10)

I had a few forum members notify me of this listing shortly after it was posted, its great to know I have lots of support out there and it is very much appreciated. With the addition of the Luongo I now stand at 62/250 or roughly 25% of the set!

#4. Washington Capitals Authentic Reebok Away Jersey (Goalie Cut)

For those of you unaware, I not only collect hockey cards but I also play the game as well, as a goaltender. Finding true authentic goalie cut jerseys can be tough and expensive, so whenever an economically sound opportunity presents itself I like to make the most of it. It is truly remarkable how vibrant authentic jerseys are when they are observed in person, I'm very happy to add the elusive "copper eagle" capitals jersey to the collection!

onto the top 3!..

#3. 2005-06 Victory Black Manny Legace (2/5)

I cannot over state how rare these cards really are. It's been about 2 months since my last addition and the hunting trail of finding more can go very cold at times. I was ecstatic to add a never previously seen Legace to my collection. The Legace brings my Victory black set to 57/300 or roughly 19% complete.

#2. UD High Glossy Ryan Craig RC (6/10)

Slowly but surely the set progress continues. I missed the opportunity of obtaining a copy of this card a few years ago and I didn't want to let it slip away a second time. The HG set now sits at 179/487 or roughly 36.8% complete.

And now #1......

#1. 2005-06 UD Phenomenal Beginnings Sidney Crosby Autograph (16/25)

I never thought I would own this card, not even for a moment. For those unfamiliar with this card, this Crosby autograph was randomly inserted into boxes which Upper Deck created to commemorate Crosby's rookie campaign. Hundred's of thousands of boxes, normally containing the standard 20-card set + 1 oversized card, were readily abundant everywhere until only about 5 or so years ago, when the supply dried up and they disappeared from retail stores. This indicates a huge production run and very remote odds of finding the randomly inserted autograph. This is the only copy I have ever seen and the previous owner claims that only 3 have been unearthed to date. I feel incredibly lucky to add it to my growing collection of rare cards from 2005-06. I would be curious to know if there are any members of the forum who have ever owned or seen other copies of this card, or better yet, pulled one themselves!

I can totally relate to the goalie cut find. I'm a goalie as well, and to find authentic goalie cut jersey's (or jersey's that fit right in general) can be a huge pain. So sweet find with that Capitals jersey!

Awesome job with the Crosby autograph. I remember everyone going nuts with that product trying to pull that card. Many will probably be locked away in collections and will never see the light of day, so huge congrats on landing that one. The card looks great!

Wow so cool to see that Crosby. The odds on one of those were so long.

Thanks for sharing.

Excellent, and that Crosby is phenomenal. Truly an iconic card for the reasons you stated. Congratulations on finally landing one!
