Avery is pathetic at best. You know the best part and this truly is the best part. You Rangers fans love him. But does he love you?
There are soooooooooo many horror stories circulating about how poorly he treats fans who approach him and some even better ones that involve him swearing at people.

I kinda hope the Pens do play the Rangers now. All I know if I was a player in the NHL these antics would motivate me beyond belief.

What it does is distracts opposing players from the task at hand, which is winning hockey games. That's why players like Avery are so important. As a Pens' fan, you should understand that. You have your own "mini-Avery" in Jarkko Ruutu.
Major difference with Ottawa, too. Ottawa was a horribly depleted team in the 1st round, any other playoff team would have swept them as well.

No, I never said that. All I said is that Marty is NOT the best goalie ever. Personally I think Patrick Roy was the best goalie ever, and I hated his guts almost as much as I hate Brodeur's... but when someone is great, I'll admit it.

Do not compare Avery to Ruutu. There is nothing wrong with being an agitator but it can be done with a bit of class and can show a bit of respect to the game.
His interview tonight shows one thing. He's a sore winner and a poor sport.
You can defend him all you want. However, when 95% of the people disagree with you then I'd have to say your missing something.

Ya, you can't factor Ottawa into this... they were not a good team 2nd half... if the season went a week longer, they would've missed the playoffs... Pens had it easy. We'll re-group, clean-up the mess and be back.
As for Brodeur not shaking hands with Avery, all power to him. Avery breaks all the sportsmanship boundaries anyway... shaking hands would've meant it was ok to do what he does. There is being a pest, then being a jerk. His choice, shake or not. I wouldn't call it being 'unclassy' ...that being said, Avery's antics certainly help the team. It takes the spotlight and heat away from the rest of the group, so they can get the job done.

However, calling one (if not the best) goalies of all time a Fatso after winning a series is ridiculous and extremely low. That has nothing to do with the game. In fact it just shows how much of a loser the guy really is.
If Avery was on the Pens you'd hate him. Heck if Avery was on the Pens I'd hate him.

If he signs elsewhere in July, I'll be very disappointed but I won't start hating him.

Sorry to dissapoint but my sense of right and wrong does not get tossed out the window when a player signs with my team.
Not a hockey example but I'm a HUGE Cowboys fan. When TO came to the team I wasn't very happy. I hate him just as much as I did before. I'll cheer when he scores but not because he scored but because the team scored.
I dont know why or how you can defend him. Defend the team fine, but not the player.
