This image is from the Montreal Canadiens announcements for Centennial Celebration events which were confirmed this afternoon.

As well as announcing a Habs Centennial Monopoly game, confirming a Habs feature film, Announcing dates for the wearing of six (SIX!!!) different historic jerseys over the course of the season, and many other things, there was this little pic......

AWESOME!!!! Details are not yet out, but if you check the small print on the back, the set is identified as "Canadiens Centennial Set". This is one I'm really looking forward to!

There's also a DVD. "Greatest Canadiens Games" or something like that.

Yeah, it's the 10 greatest televised games in Habs history I believe. All 10 games in their entirety.

There are also numerous books on different aspects of the Habs over their first 100 years.

There's also going ot be coin and stamp sets. I kinda want the set to just be a set. Where I buy it and have it. I don't want packs... eh you can call me lazy.

I totally disagree on this one. This would be one set where no pack could be a dud for me, because at the very least there would be all habs base in every pack. If this is a traditonal structures set with inserts, I'll be going for a master set!

I was hoping there would be something produced for the Habs anniversary. Looks cool.

all we have been told so far is that it's retail stores only - not B&M.

Hmmm. In that case it may be similar to the 1967 Leafs commemorative set from a couple years ago. Each blaster box contained a complete set, and there was an auto or memorabilia card in each box.

I just heard it's a 200 card set. I'm really hoping it's not a box set though. I hate box sets.

I was thinking that it's be like the Leafs commemorative set as well. But if it's a 200 card set then it could very well be packs/boxes. But you never know... if it's just for retail, it's not like a 200 card set is too large. It would be strange if it were packs/boxes and limited to retail though.

In any case, I'll be all over this.

I'd like to own a Cd depending on the games. Love for the franchise to show just as much of the classic Habs as the newer ones.

Clarifications

A few points have to be clarified.

The Canadiens 100th Anniversary Logo is a premium licensing arrangement
with NHL licensees having the option of opting in by buying the rights over and above the regular licensing agreement.

Those licensees who choose not to opt in are still producing legitimate NHL/NHLPA product.

The Canadiens have had a long standing tradition of taking a populist approach to certain products. Their annual set of individual player photos (postcard size) sells well below the market rate of $1 - 2.00 per postcard sized photo elsewhere while their card set (standard 2 1/2" x 3 1/2") sells in the $5.00 range, again well below market. They are to be applauded for this initiative.

Aight... so I'm definitely excited about this product and not only am interested in when it gets released, but if it will be released by Christmas. I'm thinking it'll be a great gift to those Montreal Canadiens fans on my list. :)

great year to be a Hbas fan :) hopefully there we will be Komisarek card in the set.

The dvd should be great. Hopefully it will be out by christmas.

UpperDeck Canadiens Centennial set

I heard that UpperDeck would release on January 13th 2009 a special set to celebrate the centennial of the Canadiens. Anobody has some specific info about that product??

That's a product that I'm really interested about. I was a major fan of Parkhurst Original 6 Montreal.

Go Habs Go! :stanley:
