Hi, guys. Long time member...more of a reader (almost every day) than a poster.

Looking for some help:

I have been collecting the 2008-2009 SPx Hockey subset Winning Combos (Radiance) Dual Jersey, Dual-Autograph (xx/25) since the set came out. I now have 42 of the 43 cards listed on the Upper Deck website checklist, but in the seven years since the product’s release the Backstrom/Mueller, Dual-Jersey, Dual-Autograph card #WC-BM (xx/25) has never surfaced on the market. I contacted UD by email to confirm whether that card was produced, but they have not answered. Do any of you know if this card was produced?

Thank you for your help,

Peter

Beckett Yearly guide has a price on it, so there must have been a reported sale sometime when they came out.

BUT...you can take that with a grain of salt...they still don't have many cards listed that we here have been trading for years.

Thank you for your reply. That's interesting that both Upper Deck and Beckett say it exists.

Has anyone else had a card they needed to finish a set that was listed in a price guide, or on Upper Deck's website, that ultimately was found not to exist?

It kind of sucks not to be sure if my set is complete after 7 years of working on it.

Yes, several times. I always chided beckett for putting a value on cards that people couldn't even confirm existed! I asked them how they can price something that doesn't exist. Always a non-answer reply. And UD has had cards on their checklists before that were never produced (and even had pictures of them). So it does happen from time to time.

well lets put it this way, i am working on the 09-10 OPC Premier Signings Triple and quad sets and i am up to 10 cards that are not listed on the checklist and there are a lot that are on the checklist that i have never seen. i also have tried to get answers from UD with no reply...

..so yes, most of us who collect sets or have tried to put a set together have gone through what you are experiencing, some worse then others.

although reaching out to your fellow collectors may help you find an answer. GL

Sean.

I understand the frustration behind Beckett pricing cards that haven't been released since their data is based on sales. Sometimes I feel the same thing since I'm collecting 2011-12 Contenders Patch autos, and they have prices for the Malkin and Letang, which have never been released. But it's often not hard to figure out. Since much of their pricing is in easily defined tiers, prices can be imputed. Meaning, if Evgeni Malkin cards are generally priced at 60% of what Sidney Corsby's are, and you keep seeing data on a Crosby card selling at $100 but no Malkin data yet. Well, you can price a Malkin at $60 in the meantime.

As for listing cards that don't exist, it does happen, unfortunately. To use an older example of a set that probably wasn't widely broken, they list 53 cards in the 2000-01 Pacific Aurora Pinstripes parallel, when I'm pretty sure there should only be 50. I've never seen the 3 extra cards they have listed, they don't have an image for them, and they shouldn't exactly be rare. So my guess is that they don't exist.

Thank you for the input, guys.

It's sort of comforting to know that I'm not suffering alone.

I'm not sure why Upper Deck doesn't respond...shouldn't production information be at their fingertips?

I would like to post scans of the 42 cards I have from the set, but I don't have a Photobucket account. Is there another way to post the scans?

Thanks

You'll need a place to upload the images. If you don't want a Photobucket account, look into other sites like Imgur, Picasa or Flickr, to name a few.

Hi there, I was a big Backstrom collector once and I remember owning that card. I think the only dual auto not produced was the Backstrom/FORsberg. Maybe that card was never even on the auto checklist.

Cheers // Eric

Interesting...well, that's good to know. Please let me know if you ever see it again. Thanks for your help.
