2010 NHL Entry Draft

Columbus fans will love their first round pick. Good sized center, plays with an edge and hass incredible hands. I was able to watch him play quite a few games in the WHL and he stood out every time he was on the ice. I compare him to Brandon Dubinsky just not as pesky, and he has better offensive touch then Dubinsky.

What I really like about him is he was neverr the top rated player, never the super star, didn't play at the highest level hockey every year, he was just a work horse who gave everything he had every time he played. Love the pick, even though a lot of Columbus fans here were cheering against the Hawks in the playoffs.....

Islanders with a steal at #5.

Absolutely, what you saw from Nino in the WJC is no fluke. I think he's more ready for the NHL then any player in the draft including Tyler or Taylor. He will fit right in, and a top line that includes Tavares and Nino will be very hard to stop. Great pick for the Islanders, two years in a row they get top level talent forwards that are ready to go. Should be fun to watch them next year.

A lot of teams had Connolly dropping because of his injuries, but the kid is a stud and has all the tools. Very comparable to a guy they already have in Ryan Malone. Still surprised they didn't go defense there, they have tons of firepower up front, a top 4 defenseman would have been a better fit but hey, can't argue with anything Yzerman does.

Vancouver got the best player in the deal, a draft pick that low wasn't going to bring them a player that could step in and help a team win that is very close to a Cup, so I think it's a great move by the Canucks. Only question now is, does Ballard fill the roll Willie Mitchell played and is Mitchell heading to a new team?

I will be very happy if this deal goes through. Ballard has a cap hit of 4.2 with 5 years left on his deal, at 27 he's started to come into his own.

There's been talk for a while that Willie Mitchell wasn't coming back, and that the Canucks were targeting Dan Hamhuis in free agency. I think Ballard fits in really well instead.

And I'm not sure but maybe Florida was at 50 contracts and had to throw in Oreskovich so that they could stay at that number.

Atlanta with huge 12-6 curveball at number 8, wow. Minnesota who loves defensemen, and the Rangers who could use another d-man, must be tickled pink right now.

I think Yzerman is doing the Ken Holland "draft the best available no matter what the position". He taught him well.

A bit surprised Minnesota didn't take a stud defenseman but they need firepower up front so good pick for them. Do the Rangers grab Gormley or Fowler now? Think about the yound d-core with Staal and Del Zotto, add a third in there and it's just like the Hawks when they drafted Keith, Seabrook, and Barker. Do they take Campbell as the eventual replacement for Lundqvist?

All I know is the two players the Hawks are targetting are dropping quick with the way the draft is going, I still don't think one of them will be there at 24 but if they do, I will be very thrilled.
