As I update my Hemsky collection I figured it's time I tried to get a couple of questions answered dealing with sets and parallels. Some of these are probably trivial and sorry if they have been answered before.

1)02/03 Stadium Club Silver Decoy Cards
I've yet to see these. Do they exist? If they do are they similar to the silver decoys from Bowman Youngstars from that year?

2)02/03 Topps/OPC
The guide I have says OPC is the same value as Topps but doesn't seem to list the Topps, hmm. All it has is OPC, OPC Premier Red and OPC Premier Blue. It doesn't list them but I have also seen OPC Red and OPC Blue. Now here's the question, is there Topps Red and Topps Blue? And is there OPC Premier Base or just red and blue? bah.

3)02/03 Topps/OPC Factory Sets
Now, are there 'Factory' sets of the rookies in this year? I've seen base factory sets but not rookies. And are there OPC Premier Factory Sets?

I think that's it for now. Thanks alot if you can help me with those.

Shaun,

Gonna try and answer these all for ya.. especially since I collect Kobasew from the same year and have run into all the same questions you've got. =]

1) They do exist, but NOT for the rookies. Easy stuff there, knock it off the list!

2) No Topps Red/Blue. Annnnnd I've never seen or heard of an OPC Premier base card either, so I'm pretty sure just Red and Blue for those.

3) This is where I'm slightly confused as well. I KNOW there are Topps Factory Rookies, since I've got one sitting in front of me right now. As for OPC, the only 2 people I've asked about after they cracked their OPC Factory Sets say they aren't in there - so I knocked it off my list as not existing. And to my knowledge, no OPC Premier Factory Sets either.

Hope that helps! :)

Matt

My understanding with the factory sets is that each one contained a redemption card for the rookies that had to be mailed in. Judging by the amount of sets that were actually opened and the amount of people that actually send in redemption cards, I'd say if they exist, good luck finding them.

Since I've also been fighting the same battle on the Spezza wantlist, I'll chime in with my 2 cents worth:

1) I've no idea, but would be happy to scratch this from the list

2) OPC Premier Red and Blue do exist and were parallels to the OPC set (so no OPC premier base), OPC Red and Blue were actually parallels to the Topps set (so again they exist, but no Topps Red and Blue were created)

3) Like Phate I have the Topps Factory version so it definately exists, I believe the OPC does as well, and as mentioned above you would have had to buy the factory set originally and actually cracked it to send in the redemption, obviously not too many people cracked the factory sets so no surprise you haven't seen one of these.

1) Phate is correct. The rookies were not done as decoys.

2) The parallels from these sets were confusing on a good day. Here's how it worked:
Topps wax - Topps base card, OPC Blue parallel #/500, OPC Red Parallel #/100
OPC wax - OPC base card, OPC Premier Blue Parallel #/500, OPC Premier Red Parallel #/100
In both products, the rookies were pulled as a redemption card for the whole flipping set, including the parallels.

3) Both OPC and Topps Factory Set Rookies do exist, and I may even have the Hemsky at home somewhere.

Ok, what is the difference between the Factory set RCs and the regular redemption RCs for that year?

Thanks in advance,
Ron
