Anyone have any idea how the new tariff war will affect cross border sales??

This! I have been indicating that items going to the USA are "Made in USA" or "Printed in USA" and so far, no tariffs have been charged for buyers on those items. I have also asked sellers to indicate "Made in Canada" on the customs form when coming north across the border and same thing, no issues on my end.
Nothing like asking people to commit mail fraud and tax evasion, especially under that current regime. Used to be small potatoes but who knows what that leads to from a prosecution perspective now.

Not at all and I guess what I wrote could be seen quite high-level and "general", if you will. To specify, the particular items our company buys are game worn jerseys, gloves, blockers, and pads that nearly 100% of the time clearly have "Made in Canada" labels within them (regardless of what team and era they originate from), so telling people to write "Made in Canada" simply prevents undue tariffs on incoming items and prevents us from having to fight postal companies on the fees charged. If anything, it is being more honest to avoid paying nonsense money and bog down post resources in disputing those charges.

Then the other way, most items we sell nowadays are sports cards and collectibles which are predominantly made/printed either in the USA or abroad (very few are printed in Canada nowadays) so once again, being honest, just ensuring that no-one gets nailed with tariffs on the other end for something already domestically made over there or outside of Canada from countries unaffected by the US tariffs. All of our eBay listings disclose the tariff possibility and anything made in Canada has a unique message from other items we have listed.

As per above, Tariffs aren’t even in place yet. April 2nd is d day, will be interesting seeing how eBay handles the situation, if they apply the tariff and then remit or leave it up to customs to collect.

What a mess.

I do have a package from Europe sitting at customs for a month not sure if that has anything to do with this lol but this wait has been frustrating.

I just priced out a shipment from COMC with 31 cards in it, about $80us total purchase price. $6.24us for shipping + $24.38us in duties. It can wait.

I saw the announcement from COMC about the new 25% fee. The smart move is to wait a bit, in my opinion. A lot of things can change with the canadian election and the USMCA renegociation.

Agree, although with the amount of stuff I have sitting at COMC (mailbox & otherwise) I really have no choice! Would be >$300 in duties ATM. Good thing I'm in no hurry.

I have received mail from Canada with no issue, although it was an evelope. I have sent to Canada with no change. As I understand it, anything under $800 and in the USMCA (Made in US, Canada or Mexico) is exempt.

For now, but the US exemption will be going away: "President Trump also took sweeping actions to end the de minimis program that allows shipments worth $800 or less to enter the U.S. duty-free and with minimal customs checks. The Reciprocal Tariffs Executive Order provides that de minimis treatment will be eliminated once the Secretary of Commerce notifies the President that “adequate systems are in place” to process and collect duties from such shipments."

With regard to imports to Canada (i.e. my COMC shipment) it appears the Canadian duty exemption of $150 should still be in place, but perhaps COMC found that too difficult to administer at this point. Hopefully in the future they can implement this; none of my cards sitting at COMC are worth more than $150.

I bought one singular card off of PSA on eBay. About $150 Canadian. $25 customs fee to pay at Canada Post.

I still have not experienced any problems sending from Canada to the USA. Sports trading cards are exempt from tariffs, while gaming cards are subject to tariffs. Packages coming to Canada, with a declared value are likely to get caught up at customs and would be subject to their handling fees, plus HST - which on the $150 value is likely in the $25 range.

Just my two cents.

The US is pausing tariffs on section 321 goods from any goods originating in any country outside of China until they have the infrastructure built to collect the money. Millions of packages enter the US via section 321 a day so if they had to manually process the tariffs they would be swimming in packages. I worked with multiple parcel forwarding companys that brought in anywhere from 20k to 60k packages each a day depending on the company and they are all small compared to the numbers UPS and Fedex do. The US customs office had maybe 10 people handling section 321 at that office and not all work at the same time. It would take them months to do a single days worth of shipments. They probably won't ever build the infrastructure needed because a month from now Trump will probably change things again no point burning those resources. Canada has a much better system in place in terms of collecting taxes and tariffs but they are focused on businesses to consumer transactions as opposed to person to person.
