First Pokemon, now they are getting heat for a 1986-87 Fleer basketball box. The sequence of pulling a Michael Jordan is know and the box that was opened at the National, the cards were all out of order. Their defence is that this was a once in a lifetime occurance that this box was out of order. It is quite the debacle on the basketball card forums I have seen.

This "hobby" just feels so slimy and dirty. Nonstop scammers, trimmers, patch fakers, fake authenticators, who knows what else.

I definitely still enjoy it but greed really does ruin everything.

I’ve listened to the guy on sports card radio.

Seems to me like it was a tampered with case. I mean there were big cards in the box but everything else about it seems wrong. I’m no expert on these boxes as I’ve never opened one or watched them opened but it seem fishy.

I can't imagine we're at the end of this - saw something on IG very recently where there was a live break at the National of a high end sealed basketball box and it was also some super low end filler product when the Panini wrapper came off.

Just too much money to be made by fraud.

Be careful out there!!

Not to mention they openly admitted to replacing 2 packs in the box, saying 1 was tampered with. I believe they said the other the waxed just popped open a little.

Not that I would spend the amount of money on some of those unopened boxes/cases, but anything with BBCE wrapped around it, I would avoid like the plague.

Also, doesn't this guy authenticate for PSA as well?

I seen that. How that guy must have felt.... If there is money to be made by fraud, people will jump at it.

It's made worse by their refusal to stand by their guarantee. Honestly, after these two incidents BBCE's reputation is effectively trash. They are going to have a long, hard road to repair it - if that's even possible.

100% agreed!

Since the Pokemon fiasco, they have become they are in self defence mode, but like denial and it's everyone's fault but their's.

Not a good way to stand by your products at all.

I think the hobby has grown beyond the scope of what BBCE can handle. When things were quieter maybe they didn’t have many problems. But now there are a lot more eyes on the hobby and certainly a LOT more money. And money always brings out the worst in people and attracts scammers of all kinds. I don’t think BBCE got into this market expecting they’d eventually have to stamp their reputation on $2-million Pokémon cases (which they admitted they essentially had no experience with) or six figure 1986 Fleer boxes. The stakes are much higher and things are scrutinized to a much higher degree in this influencer driven content world. They’re in over their head it seems.

I watched the video... usually the gum will stick to the card, even crack. None of the gum in these packs cracked or stuck. They all came out one piece like they were new

Their claim that packs from the box were replaced with authentic packs should have been their “nope”.

If anyone is listening to anything they say after that Logan Paul fiasco (and compounded by this), then good on you. That wrapper is a waste of plastic, now.
