Sorry to bring up the cess pool again, but an interesting post was made there saying they were keeping trading free. Personally, I prefer to do what little trading i do at shows, or here at HI, but I find this concession interesting.

Does this mean Beckett is finally beginning to acknolwede their HUGE mess up?

They knew that from the day of the launch.

My thoughts, they are doing it to get members back. If members go back, means for advertisments revenue for them, then they will charge for trades.
They have already done the bait and switch, why not one more time?

Besides, its SAFER to trade over here. Beckett doesnt block IPs, and they even said they woudl do NOTHING if you get ripped off. At least the mods here created a thread about who not to trade with. Thats 100% more then what they have done on beckett.

I havent been over there in a while. I check to see the my organize thing. They havent made the changes yet that they said they might do. Untill then, let the titanic sink.

My biggest problem with beckett is that the My Collection part still loads way to slowly. Until all parts of the site can move faster they will continue to sink.

We live in a now society. Not in a 30 seconds to a minute society.

B who ?

`Finally beginning to acknolwede their HUGE mess up`

It only took a couple of months, and probally 90-95% of there traffic lost to begin to acknolwede.

H.I rules, they will go down, my next subs are probally going to PSA.

They can keep there screw up site and unrelevant pricing IMO

Other hobby site also gain traffic from there lost, why would anybody go back there, even if trading is free, who wants to go in this unorganised mess ?

And that post wasn't meant to be antagonistic or anything, but if you look at the absolute complete and utter disregard that they had for collectors in general, why should any of us give a rats posterior about what they do with their site? I just got messed over by a Marketplace Seller, and the response from Beckett did nothing to alleviate the situation. That was the final straw...

They forgot that if you alienate your users, there's less people there to sit through the advertisement, therefore costing you Advert bucks. This is their way of trying to get them back.

No need to go back - Site is unsalvagable anyways and the GOOD traders are already here.

Hey Bruce - can I get my 100 feedback medal? :)

While trying to find out when they will add a feature to the my organize, i seen a post that says when a guy tried to view a card, a virus was found in their image gallery. I guess the picture of the card, or what is supposed to be a picture is actually a virus.
Awesome (sarcastic) on becketts part to not review submitted material. Or limit the file extensions allowed (jpg, gif) for a picture when uploading it. Whatever their process is. A huge flaw on their part.

WOW.

I don't miss it over there at all. I wish I had made the permanent switch to HI long ago. They can make all the changes they want over there, too little too late, IMO.

Whoa whoa wHOA.... I haven't been to beckett in a year or 2, nor do I bother usually reading about them.... but if I understand the first post correctly... they now CHARGE people to trade?? Like charge, as in you PAY them to trade??

I don't know the complete details, but in the new year it was going to be 5 dollars or so to make a trade.

Hmmm....
Why should they bother trying to salvage a failing website. And if they are doing this to bring back traffic, then why? No one will go back after they basically betrayed their customers. I'm glad I found HI.

Nick

i will check in from time to time but i have found a new , fun , place to trade....seriously i was about to give up the hobby because the fun for me is trading.

glad i found H.I>

More important question, when is someone going to come out with a monthly pricing guide that is actually accurate? Take a look at anything from the mid to late 90's and you will realize that beckett has been taking part in adult activities with Rover for quite some time.

I have to argee with everyone here... Beckett was crap even before the switch (compared to HI)... now that I've been here, I seriously wish I had been here all along... way better site and community here at HI. I guess that's one thing Beckett did great for me..... introduced me to HI!!! :)
