Hi all,

I don't post much here but I think this is the best place to ask these types of questions. Hopefully I am not repeating old threads.

1 - Being from Canada, I am mostly concerned about the customs charge. Do I need to declare the value of the cards for customs, or the value of the service rendered? I thought I had read a while ago that I should insure my submission up to the value of the cards, but only need to declare the cost of the BGS service.

2 - Where on the BGS form can you place a minimum grade?

Thanks and sorry if these questions are asked alot.

Adam

Thanks for the help,

Unless i'm blind (it's been known to happen), I don't see much information for those of us up North.

Again I could be missing something...

Thanks.

There used to be a number of brick and mortar joints that used to do this... they collect a bunch and send in the lots... might cost a bit more, but no hassles for you.

Sorry to bump this, but I got a response from Beckett for those who could be interested:

1. We use USPS Global Express, so there are no customs or duty fees. We insure the order for the amount you specify.

2. You'll want to insure them for the value of the card, not the service.

3. There is no designated place for the minimum grade, so you will just need to write this in the margin next to each card. Make sure to highlight the minimum grades so our invoicing department catches it.

The last question I have, is how can I determine how well my SP Authentic, and Ice cards are centered? I find it hard without any sort of border...so how is centered judged on these types of cards?

Any tips are appreciated :)

Thanks!

1- If you use Expresspost, the maximum you can insure is 1000$.Keep your shiping bill, if you get charge customs, the shipping bill is your proof that the cards where yours in case the customs clerk miss the 2-3 giant `Canadian returned goods` stamp.

2- Not on the form, on each card( on the soft sleeve) individually whit a post it.Since its your fisrt sub, i think you shouldnt put a minimum, crack open the ones you aint satisfy about, that way you can figure what to look out for on your next sub.

For the Ice cards, you may want to compare whit others, didnt know they had centering issues till i got this.

On the back , you can see the names are a bit lower.

Good luck whit you subs, people arent usually happy whit there first results.

On SP Authentic Future Watch, the top and bottom borders on the front often vary in size. Some cards have a thicker trim than others. Something I've noticed which would surely affect centering

this years future watch has horrible centering and corners and they stand out like a sore thumb. Very hard set to get graded.

Just curious, how picky is BGS-grading on the surface of acetate/plexi cards like RCs in UD Ice, Glacial Graphs, and Ice Scripts.

For instance, how bad can a few light streaks affect the Surface score?

If youre talking about surface scratch , a tiny one will bring down the subgrade to 9, a long one or a few youre looking at 8.5 or lower.

Thanks for your help! I wanted to try and take advantage of the 25% off special they have right now. If you don't mind me asking, is there a reason I shouldn't put a minimum grade for my first submission? Is it because I will come off looking too arrogant to the person grading the cards?

Thanks again.

I suppose you want to put a 9 minimum, if you put a minimum grade, and the card dosent reach it, you get the card back the way you sent it, whit no explanation whatsoever why it didnt reach it.Atleast , if you crack open the case your not happy about, you can see why the surface or other subgrade didnt do good to get better whit upcomming submission.

Just curious on what a print spot would do to the surface score.

P.S.: I did have a 2005-06 UD Ice Parise that came back as a BGS 9 due to centering and it was the only score I got below 9 on. On a different note, I find it odd that a 10 centering is easy to get on 2005-06 YG...
