Bobby Hull dead at 84

The Golden Jet, Bobby Hull has died at age 84. My biggest memory of Bobby was attending my first NHL game in the 60s. Leafs played the Hawks, I remember Hull going end to end several times during the game bringing the fans out of their seats. We waited to talk to Bobby after the game and he was such a nice guy who never left until all those who wanted an auto had one. He sure made this ten year old feel good. He actually walked to the subway and talked along the way with fans. Condolences to his family and close friends.

Indeed. Howe and Hull were the two mainstays from my youth. Another tough loss for hockey. RIP Bobby!!!!

My favourite player when I was kid and living in Winnipeg when he signed with the WHA Jets was a dream come true.
Meet him numerous times, the last was at a signing here in Calgary @ Eastridge Hobbies July 2019.

I grew up on the plains of eastern New Mexico and I didn't know a single person who cared about hockey. I don't think there was even an ice rink in the entire state at the time so any knowledge of hockey came from reading magazines such as Sport and Sports Illustrated were my insights into the sport. Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe were the first two hockey players that I knew anything about. I thank them for the introduction into an amazing sport and to this part of the sport collecting hobby.

I still remember the thrill of pulling my first Bobby Hull autograph 20 plus years ago and thinking a true hockey legend! More pulls came later and grateful for each one.

I don't have the exact physical card two decades later, but I've since acquired three additional copies still in hand and sold one or two duplicates. The card that was the hit in my first ever box of 2002-03 Parkhurst Retro!
