This is Randy's worst nightmare.........
In my mind, only 2 of the numbers (12 and 16) SHOULD have been pulled out of circulation with 3 or 4 other jerseys had special situations for them (11, 28, 37 and possibly 38).

I think it's dumb as well.
This is an EXTREMELY talented player who was the Canucks first superstar and probably remains their best player in history, but with his attitude and the holdout, I don't think he's worthy of being hung from the rafters.
He played 7 seasons as a member of the Canucks - 3 were great, 3 were okay and 1 was cut short. I don't think that
The Canucks have retired 4.5 jerseys, reached 3 finals and won 0 cups. In my mind, only 2 of the numbers (12 and 16) SHOULD have been pulled out of circulation with 3 or 4 other jerseys had special situations for them (11, 28, 37 and possibly 38).

Bure was asked to pay $50,000 of his salary towards buying him out of his Russian contract
Wikipedia said:The Canucks management and officials from the Soviet Ice Hockey Federation met in late-October 1991 in a Detroit court, where they bartered for a cash settlement. After the Canucks offered $200,000, Bure stood up in the courtroom to offer an additional $50,000, bringing the total to $250,000. The Soviet officials accepted, and Canucks management paid the full $250,000.
After winning the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year, the Canucks felt he needed to prove his value more before signing a new contract.
After agreeing to a contract of similar value to Sergei Fedorov and Alexander Mogilny, the Canucks pulled the rug out from under Bure by making the numbers in Canadian dollars instead of American dollars, a very uncommon practice.
Canucks refused to pay a signing bonus they owed him.
Broken promises about moving Pavel, and a handful of other instances destroying trust.
There is also an interview stating that somebody in management said Bure would sit out game 7 if he didn't get paid extra for the game. That was the last straw for Bure.
I thought he held out because the Canucks owner at the time wouldn't pay Bure money he was owed/promised.
