The conditions required for the Capitals to make it!

If Washington wins it's last two games, the Caps would make the playoffs if:

- Carolina loses in regulation or overtime to Florida on Friday

- Ottawa loses one of its two remaining games in regulation or loses both in overtime

- Boston loses one of its two remaining games in regulation or loses both in overtime

- Philadelphia loses one of its two remaining games in regulation or overtime

Boston and Ottawa play each other Friday in Ottawa. If that game ends in regulation, the most one of those teams could earn is 94 points, and the Capitals hold the tiebreaker against both of them.

That means that as long as that game is decided in regulation, the Capitals control their own destiny.

Should be a fun run no matter how it ends....

How cool would it be to see Washington vs Pittsburgh in the first round. or Washington vs Montreal. could make for some exciting playoff hockey..

Saturday night Ottawa got the Leafs live on CBC HNIC. The Leafs will not go down easy especially if they can spoil the party for the Sens.

What are you sweatin' for, Brian? They're in. They'll get Philly's spot.

Chris

Not really sweatin'.... :dizzy:

However, I'm just hoping that Florida can steal their game against the 'Canes on Friday and the Cap's beat the 'Cats and end up third...

Montreal has the Leafs Scotty. No biggy.

Sens are in T.O. tonight. There's no way I could predict the outcome.

Sens host the Bruins tomorrow night. See above.

Brian, I want the Caps in, and for the sake of exciting playoffs, have them face Mtl in the Eastern Finals. The Canadiens forum would go balistic. You'd be surprised at how many Habs fans hate Price. (that erks me) :)

I think the Caps will make the playoffs and I think they will make a good run, my money would be on montreal in the east though, Even though Price is young he has proven to be clutch in the important games, already won a calder cup and a world junior championship.

Well Brian, I hope the Leafs can lend a hand this evening with a win over the Sens, keeping my fingers crossed for you bud.
Dan.

Does it really matter for teams like Philly, Ottawa, Van, or Nashville to make the playoffs? They are just gonna be quick 5or 6 games 1st round exits. San Jose and Washington have all the momentum to take them thru the playoffs. They both brought in pieces that fit at the deadline and its starting to work. Pittsburgh could get really scary if Hossa and Crosby really start to click they have still barely played together.

So we should all go to vegas and put our money on a Sharks/Caps final, right? ;)

I guess that's why they play the games...they can't predict the winners as well as you. That's exactly how an 8th seed like Edmonton got to the Finals a few years ago.

Edmonton won 8 of there last 9 games to make the playoffs similar to what washington is doing and they carried that thru and if there goalie didn't go down they could have very well won the stanley cup.

Brian,
I'd like to see the Caps make it, but needless to say I don't agree with your wish for the Canes to lose on Friday. I hope to see the Caps and Canes both win out and the Caps get the eighth spot.

Personally I'll be a hater on the Sens, hoping they drop to 9th, if for no other reason than to get to hear all the reactions from the very Sens fans who said after the trade with Carolina that the Canes had gotten @#$%ed and the Sens would win the Stanley Cup. I even have certain HI members in mind that I'd like to hear from should that happen. But until the Canes are officially in, I'll take the safe road and keep my mouth shut.

I do not want to see Washington/Montreal. Not just for the Huet angle (despite his lack of playoff success), but to avoid Overchicken AT ALL COSTS. Let the Pens have fun with that instead.

Brian,

I'm also hoping the Panthers can help the Caps out.

I think we'd all love to see Pittsburg / Washington in the first round.

Ottawa should finish 9th and then they may decide to rid themselves of Emery. This is one night I'm hoping the Leafs bring their "A" game.

Awesome game tonight, great 3rd period. I really think the caps will be dangerous in the playoffs, they have been amazing since the coaching change.

Oh trust me, I don't the Caps in the first round either. OV is a Canadiens killer.

Well

I'm still holding out for the Third seed in the East... Go 'Cats Go!!!! ;)

However, that would put them up against the Sen's as the sixth seed.. Although, the Cap's have had success against them this year... ;)

In the end as long as they can stave off and remain in the top eight.. I'll be very happy! :D

Exactly my point of view !

how must win tonight in order to give Caps some help ??

The 'Canes & Panthers are playing this evening... So, I'm hoping that the 'Cats can beat the 'Canes. Then show up and play the Capitals on Saturday and get beat.. ;)

Thus assuring the Caps a playoff berth.

Brian
