Card Show Pickups and Missing Mail

Well, I ventured out in the monsoon to hit the card show in Long Island today. After a couple of previously failed attempts, I met up with jxchecker (Jay) at the show today. He came bearing a present for me... an autographed 11x17" photo of the Orange County Chopper crew... Paul Jr & Sr amongst the signees. I really appreciate him getting that as we had seemingly discussed this for the past year. Thanks man!

As far as the show pickups. . . I went home with a bunch of supplies, including a few boxes of those magnetic one-touch holders. . . that I can't seem to get here in the city.

Now, comes something that made my day even brighter. . . even though the weather wasn't. I got home from the show and checked the mailbox. There was a bubble mailer from Canada with a name I didn't recognize. I checked the postmark and it was from 12/15/2005. I opened it up to find these safely inside:

It then dawned on me that this was an eBay package that went MIA since December. The seller had apologized and given me a refund for the cards in January/February since the were seemingly lost in the mail.

It just goes to show you that there is still (albeit slim) hope if a package is missing for a REALLY long time.

I'll probably post my weekly mail tomorrow. Just wanted to share these things today.

Wow, that is a long time for a bubble mailer to be lost in the abyss of postal heck Sweet Boom Boom, that is a great card. The Messiers and the Yzerman are nice autos, always cool to get Messier's graph since there are so few of them around

I bought a box of magnetic holders in 3 different sizes:

Ultra-Pro (25 count box)
130pt - for most patches and Sweet Spot autos
35pt - for most "regular" sized rookies (like a Heatley Black Diamond or Young Guns)

Pro-Mold (20 count box)
50pt - good for jersey cards (like SPx rookies) and thicker cards (like a Lehtonen Premier)

I don't remember the exact box price breakdown, but they ran $20-30 based on the sizes. I bought a bunch of other supplies too, so I got a nice discount overall. Either way, I didn't want to buy this stuff online and pay $10-15 for shipping alone.

It would be great if Ultra-Pro had a midsized case like the Pro-Mold 50pt.

Great pickups, some of those do bring back good memories.

I don't know if you get discounts at Chameleon, but I seem to remember getting the One-Touch holders when I was in NYC in January for the stuff that I cracked there the weekend I was in. Of course that day I took the train up to White Plains for the ECN and couldn't find the place. But that was part of a pretty bad weekend for me in NYC in general.

Wes - Yes, I already sent the seller an e-mail stating that the cards arrived. I am not a dirtbag who would keep these items for free. The seller deserves re-payment for the items he refunded.
