Here's my most recent purchase on eBay of an item I didn't even want, but for some unknown reason I bid $12.22, and won it anyway.

I like the Wild, but I do not collect Gaborik. I don't collect SPGU patches either, really. Don't assume it was for trade bait, because that would be giving me too much credit. Sometimes I just bid for the sake of bidding, and I don't even know why.

If you have something you won that you didn't really even want, post it, and how much you paid. This might be fun.

I agree with the original thread, i was rude before with my original comment! I just got home from the bar, we've all been there.

This threads pretty pointless don't you think?

That's not fair... I think it's a good idea for a thread. I can't think of one other than a Toews spXtreme I won back in January. I big 20 bucks and won it. After that I remember asking myself, "Did you really want that card?" It's pretty funny when that happens

This is a good idea for a thread, it happens to me almost daily.. here are a couple:

No idea why i threw a bid in on this, dont even like Fuhr:

Already had 3 of these up to this point, and i told myself i was NOT going to buy any more, low and behold:

And this one a couple of days ago, i came across the auction, didnt even think twice, immediately bought the item, no hesitation what so ever, until after i bought it i thought to myself 'why did i just buy those, i do not need anymore shoes' (sound like a girl, i know)

I don't have links but when I bid on something I don't want its because I'm tilting from not winning something I really wanted before.

I get that feeling of "I want to win something NOW", so I go for some cards that I don't REALLY want, but don't mind having.

It happens all the time hence the bucket of trade bait and even some PC items.Sometimes the price I paid was too high for the interest in the card .Another could be an upgrade and when you look back you wonder why you bought it when the card you had was fine?My downfall is once it's in the PC it's so tough to pull it out to trade,so more than likely it's permanent.

Nothing wrong with this thread by the way.....we all are guilty!!!!!!

Definitely happens alot. You look at it initially and are like, I got to have it. Then the final seconds come and I am like please someone bid higher, Please.

I used to do that a lot, I would say to myself if I could get a card for under a certain amount it was a good deal, needless to say I have a lot of cards that I never really wanted in the first place...

:dance::dance: Don't worry guys, I have thick skin.:dance::dance:

Of course it is pointless. It's a sports collector's message board - I wasn't going for poignancy. If I wanted to be more poignant, I would have written an essay on the ascendancy of the Mayan civilization and it's subsequent decline for you, but that was done on the Mayan message board already...;)

I just think it is funny how I can't lay off of some cards when I see an auction, regardless of the fact that I do not collect the player or the card set.

I don't collect Pavel Bure, or 1990's Pinnacle inserts, but these cards are so ridiculously flashy and seizure-inducing, I had to bid to bid on a few...for no other reason than that I was bored last night (I also got the Lindros and a purple Cujo):

:D

That's hilarious. I've done that so many times I can't count.

Then someone comes in and outbids you, and you lose the auction, and you're like, "Thank God. I almost spent $10 on a 1990 Score insert of Don Sweeney."

(No offence to Sweeney collectors out there).

Happens to me all the time. I'll be bored and checking auctions that are ending soon so I'll throw a bid on something to see if I can get it for a good price. I've gotten some interesting cards that way.

Ya Travis , I once bought 2 boxes of ITG Franchises East on ebay a couple years ago. I had no idea why as I was not even really interested in that product. I ended up pulling a couple decent cards (Cheevers SP auto and a Bossy Barnburners gold /20 jersey) but I remember thinkng right after I won them how much I regreted it. I don't know what got into me!

don't know why I bought these, I'm not a lightning fan and have no idea who Blair Jones is...
