Drouin: That went downhill quickly

Not a fan of Drouin's actions at all. Sometimes you need to swallow your own pride for the sake of your teammates, your organization and the front office guys who decided to draft you. I wonder if many teams are pulling out of the sweepstakes after this news? I know if I was the GM I wouldn't take a chance on him (Yes, I could eat my words a year from now) since he's proven to develop into an off-ice issue. No room for any of that stuff in the locker room, that stuff will tear holes within your team so fast.

Good, skilled player with an attitude problem. I'd rather stock up on players with more heart than players who act like Drouin is acting. Just my opinion.

It'll be interesting to see where things go from here...

If Drouin doesn't get his act together, he could find himself with a really short NHL career.

Sure the kid has a lot talent and potential. It's still just potential. Potential needs hard work and a good attitude to turn it into something real and consistent.

Drouin could get traded, play out his entry level contract, and then ask for the moon for his bridge contract. There could be an impasse again there. I don't think he would qualify for arbitration, and I don't see any team giving him an offer sheet for crazy money. So he would just sit, and not get paid.

Also, doesn't help his cause that TB is on a 7 game win streak and just beat the Hawks. At best, Drouin gets traded by the trade deadline. If not, next chance is at the draft. Then after that maybe pre-season, then after that Christmas because teams have reviewed their 1/4 mark performance.

If a trade doesn't materialize, it is possible that TBL could toll his contract, meaning that Drouin would have to play another year on his entry level deal. Which could also delay his eligibility for free agency by another year.

So he could light it up for the next 3 years and never make more than his entry level $$$. I wonder if his agent considered that?!?

I'm sure this entire scenario is giving GM's pause for consideration as no rookie should be given this much leeway. Agent be damned.

Anyone willing to sell Drouin rookies I am wlling to buy them at this time.
\With all this bashing of Drouin and his agent it would seem to be a good time to unload your Drouins and move on.

Paying 25 % on rookies.

PM works better for me.

This is another thing to consider. Well, when it comes to us collectors at least.

I wonder how Drouin collectors are feeling right now? That is the question I found myself thinking about once all this Drouin stuff hit the public.

I guess if you want to start a Drouin PC.... Now's the chance? I could definitely see a sell off from some hardcore Drouin collectors right now.

My guess is that his agent has informed Drouin about the options and risks, and that this agent is basically doing what Drouin is asking him to do.

This is all Drouin's doing. Agents won't take it this far without the player's request or consent.

IMO, there is still a risk collecting Drouin because you don't know when or where he's going to get traded. Even if he lights it up in CBJ, Arizona, Carolina, how much hobby love is he going to get?

If he gets traded to one of the better teams with lots of hobby love, then depth-wise, it'll take him a while to get the minutes to get decent points. Plus all of his rookie stuff is in Tampa gear. Some collectors won't go totally nuts because of this.

IMO, there are a bunch of other better options that might be considered low buys right now. But good if you want to get something rare for your PC.

I have a handful of Drouin cards in my PC, but all except for one are Halifax Mooseheads cards. However this plays out he was still a part of the 2013 Memorial Cup team and one of the best players to go through major junior hockey in Nova Scotia so I plan on keeping the Mooseheads cards even if he never played another NHL game.

As for my Future Watch autograph, I'll probably sell it whenever he gets traded. Was never really a fan of the card design anyway, and his auto went to hell after the first year or so of ITG cards.

Steve Yzerman seems very good at getting solid return in trades. He is waiting until a desperate team finally hits rock bottom and is willing to roll the dice on his potential and Jr stats. Maybe Colorado should trade for him and reunite the Moose heads line. I think the Habs are soon going to make a move to add scoring. Not sure if Drouin is the answer but he could be worth the risk, guess it depends on what you have to give up. Tsn said there are at least 7 teams with offers on the table for him. Seriously if there are 7 similar deals than you should know what true trade value is for him at this stage of his young career. Reports are that Tampa are looking for low salary players in return. This likely means young players or draft picks.

I still wonder if my Leafs are kicking tires on him. Young skilled kid who might fit well into a rebuild. The Leafs have some players that could fit into the Tampa lineup to help in a playoff run.

i really hope the blues dont send fabbri to the bolts for this nut job.
talented or not, a st louis team does not need another colby rasmus!

I don't see this happening. Fabbri bro is showing way more upside than Drouin. IMO the Blues would be stupid to do that trade. I don't see Tampa getting as much as they expect. Drouin hasn't done much since Jr and this entire holdout situation makes teams question your character.

I really don't think Stamkos wants to stay there. Could be wrong but his body language gives him away. There is a lot of moving parts that need to line up in order for everything to go right with Tampa keeping everyone.

Back to Drouin I think for a player who Tampa has already shown to be disappointed with and talked down about they are asking too much in return. Between the coaches comments on Drouin and now Drouins actions he will remain with Tampa unless Yzerman lowers his asking price.

Drouin, Stevie Y better get rid of him as fast as he can....he hasnt done a damn thing in this league...his stock is cratering right now....be lucky to get a 2nd round pick out of him now and falling quickly.

I'm sure if Steve Y was willing to take a 2nd rounder for Drouin he would have more than a few offers. Probably 29 of them.

The deal that Yzerman would pull right now in a heart beat is a older experienced top 4 RHS dman with 3 years left until UFA, and has a good AAV.

The odds of that happening. Zilch.

But this is the only area that the Lightning need to address.

100% Agree!!! Its all about the body language...besides...Stamkos is a pro, he will say the right things...but notice he doesnt say them with any kind of enthusiasm? I think that cup final loss really put a hole in his heart man.

Stammer wants to Stay in Tampa he purchased a house here late last yr. his parents purchased a house as well. I also think the offer that came out might not even be true since they are working this deal behind close doors. If it were real i think Stammer would have been a bit upset but at the same time it could be some talk between Stammer and Yzerman about keeping the team together or adding more pieces to make a run. We don't know for sure .

Back to Drouin talk is Yzerman wants a Young Dman for any deal possibly NHL ready or in the the NHL . The Bolts D has one great pair and an the others are good with Nesterov who could be great .

Drouin could still garner a good trade offer but i think the GM's have backed off a bit due to the bad move Drouin and his agent made. Its also a matter of Yzerman waiting to get the right deal.
