As a very new ebay seller I have a question I hope folks an help with.
I posted a card for sale and very quickly had a bid placed on it. I then got a question from somebody else asking to sell it for what I consider a fair amount. Is it ethical to pull the card? I don't want to be known as a bad seller already ( this being the second card i've ever put on ebay) or is this standard practice and nothing to be so worried over? Any input will be of help thanks
Jeff

Sellers do it all the time, so it's up to you.

If there's a very good offer from the board member who asked me about the card before I would take it. But if it's from someone else, I normally say that I would prefer to finish auction at original scheduled date and it's not fair to other potential buyers.

if its a nice offer, take it... or give the guy who asked a somewhat ridiculous amount and see what he has to say... it has happened all the time to auctions I have been bidding on, and i have done it one time also...

if you think you can get a better deal, then pull it and sell it

eBay is business, and a bunch of people will be disappointed at first, but wont hold it against you.. but better pull it before a lot more people bid on it... if its only one guy that has a bid, and you get an offer of $300, contact the bidder and explain the situation, if he says he is not willing to pay that much, pull it

IMHO

I'm with Mike. Just allow the auction to end as per the listing. That way you have an auction that ends & then Feedback is exchanged.

Hope this helps?

That is a question that only you can answer for yourself.
Is it against eBay rules? Yep.
Would the current bidder be upset? Likely.

Personally, I feel that pulling the card is reneging.
Just my 2 cents.

the only time I pull a card is if I havent listed a BIN price and someone wants to make an offer. Its poor practice to pull an item that has bids on it. I list an item for what I would like to get out of it minimally. I try to list BIN's unless its a hot or volatile card and then I let it go as those offers will come without a BIN.

Thanks for the input everyone. Despite the offer becoming very generous I turned it down and will take my chances with the auction format. GamebreakerJEFF mentioned it was against ebay regulations and upon further checking I noticed right beside the ebay message is a blurb stating as much so this combined with the fact someone has already bid made my decision easy.
thanks all
Jeff
