I won this auction and 2 times asked via email for a shipping total to Canada. No reply, so I up and paid for the item, since it was about half price of what this card has been going for.

Now he refunded my money with the following message:

"Hi There,

Unfortunately I am going to have to refund your paypal payment as I am not shipping this item outside the United States due to the lack of Delivery Confirmation available. I have refunded your payment using the refund function on paypal so you shouldn't have to pay any fees. My apologies for this, however, the auction does say that it ships to the United States.

-XXXXXX"

Of course it does not say anywhere in the auction that he is unable to ship to Canada.

What should I do?

Actually, he lists the United States as the only shipping country.

"Ships to: United States"

He also does not provide any international shipping rates, so that should've been your second clue to ask before bidding.

You got a refund, so you are not at a loss. Just go find another one.

Or you can have it shipped to a American Hobby Insider member and then have them mail it to you. And reward them somehow for their help. If not that then what Jay said :). -Mike

Call it a day. You got your money back, and you'll find it at a better price from a better seller.

I'll echo what other's have said. If the auction does not specify anything other than "ship to US", I always double check first.

You'll find it again...

Any eBay seller that is selling HOCKEY cards and does not ship to Canada is a freakin' idiot. I sell hundreds of Hockey items per month on the bay and I would guess that 50%-65% of all of my Hockey sales go to Canada or Europe. Maybe he should just offer Local pickup and limit the buyers to people that live down the street from him.:p Having said all this, I think you are out of luck for reasons the others have mentioned. I said this before on this site and got drilled. A lot of people defended sellers like that. Really, its like me (living in Ottawa) selling a high end Yankees card and saying "only ships to Canada." I'd be a goof to do that.

Anyways, I agree with most of the people in this thread. Call it and day and look for another one.

This should be rule #1 for any US hockey card seller!! If we (Canadians) want the card bad enough, we'll pay the extra for tracking.

Well put Mike.

Actually I already have 2 of this card, but as you all know I am after the elusive BGS 9.5 for my collection.

The going price is $100 so I thought this was a steal considering I threw the laughable bid of $55 in.

Thanks for your advice all I am letting it go by the way side. I have bigger fish to fry now ;)
