I recently watched a video on youtube of the TSN Hockey experts who had to pick 1 All Time FACE OF THE FRANCHISE for all 32 NHL teams. It did not necessarily have to be the Best player/goalie. But when you hear the name of the team, who comes to mind. Some of the prayers selected were unanimous, others teams were of 4 or more prayers people thought of when it came to the Face Of The Franchise. The Maple Leafs & the Black Hawks had 7 different names ones choose) some names ranging from out of 100%…4% thought of 1 player where others 20% thought of a different name. It was really interesting to see the names which people selected. As some seemed to focus more on a certain decade than others.
So they ended up showing the % of how many voted for who. Honestly I was surprised at some of the choices. But to each their own.
They did decide to combine some teams such as the Jets (from when they first were a franchise & later when they once again became a franchise) as well as the Minnesota North Stars & the Dallas Stars…how ever I feel this should be split as there are some names which come to mind of these teams. So I’ve listed these that way.
For some reason they didn’t include the Seals….perhaps because they moved around so much during the mic 60’s-70’s. So we will leave out the Oakland Seals, California Seals & California Golden Seals of the list. Nor did they include the Colorado Rockies, Atlanta Flames & Cleveland Barons.
They also combined the Phoenix Coyotes, Arizona Coyotes & Utah Mammoths into 1 selection of a player/goalies. Perhaps because Utah has only been a team for 2 years? I donno. So I’ve combined the Phoenix & Arizona teams in to one.
If you can think of 1 player from when the team, was either Phoenix or Arizona Coyotes then please put that down..as well as your choice of a Utah player/goalie
I thought it would be interesting if HI members shared who they think of when it comes to each team. So please Post who your choices are for each FACE OF THE FRANCHISE. If you up to playing.
Also I should add, you do not have to necessarily have had grown up watching these players, but from your Hockey knowledge. Seeing clips of them play, stories, etc you can decide on whoever you want.
For instance I was born in 1979 so there a LOTS of players/goalies I never saw play. However I would still think of that name for the team which they played for.
