Fall Toronto Expo - Does It Happen?

The problem is that Canada's vaccine acquisition was so badly botched that many Canadians won't get their vaccination for another month and most won't be fully vaccinated until the fall. Then there is the suggestion that vaccine passports are coming and if there is a way to screw up that rollout our government will find it. This will also rule out the many North Americans/collectors who are refusing the vaccine. The saga is far from over.

What I am really waiting on is the announcement for The National which is due the beginning of June.
I guess what I am sayiong is that things can turn around quickly- if enough people can (and will) get vaccinated...

i doubt it happens .. last i heard the international centre is in the hot zone and is a temporary vaccination clinic

to many hurdles to make it happen

borders are still closed
flights,,, what restriction will there be
hotels accomodations... will they be at full capacity
special guest athletes .. will they be able to traveel
dealers.. will they be able to travel
vip ... will they be attending
layout.. how many booths, dealers and space between and how many dealers allowed in booth and how many customers allowed at tables at one time
staff . security? patrons dealers athletes .... will everyone have to show proof of vaccination to enter?

2022 sounds like when it possibly happens

if anyone can make fall happen it would be steve menzies... he has done so much with the expo but he has to wait along with all of us to see what happens

when we can get this going i hope we can all get to the pre expo dinner and raise a glass to all of us for celebrating being together again
 
Interesting email that was just sent. Preparing for the Spring VIRTUAL Expo, but also has dates for a Fall Expo (with an extra FOURTH day), identified at its normal International centre location.

Obviously alot can change between now and then, including what provincial restrictions are still in place, but looks like plan is currently to try and hold the event.

Phase 1 should start June 14th, Phase 2 on July 5th, and Phase 3 on July 26th.

That assume that the province hits vaccine targets, and the case counts continue to drop.

Phase 3 is to include "Large Indoor Gatherings", Sporting events & Casinos would be open. It sounds like if we are into Phase 3 (or beyond it?) then the Expo could happen.

Wishful thinking with everything that needs to be ironed out.
 
It’ll happen. Even if I have to fly out there and set up outside in front of Hall 5 with a folding table.
 
The travel quarantine rules are going to be another thing to keep in mind if this is going to happen. Anyone traveling to Ontario from out of province may be looking at mandatory quarantines (likely upon return), as well as whatever quarantine procedures are deemed appropriate for visitors to Canada.

I don't see travel quarantines within Canada still existing by November. International travel is another thing.

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it's that our vision for what could possibly happen next is necessarily limited. I'd like to believe that this is the case, and there is a significant lack of proof to support that belief.

There are a lot of things that need to happen between here and there for an expo to be viable. It is possible for them all to happen. I would like to see progress before I start hoping.
 
The Fan Expo in Toronto has announced a Oct 22-24 date at the Metro Convention Centre with a 25,000 crowd. If this succeeds, we have a chance guys!
 
With Atlantic Canada green plan set for August 1, I see the show coming in the fall. I would never have guessed this even two weeks ago.
 
Provided the Newfoundland government lifts the mandatory 2 week self quarantine for incoming travelers and there are no real major outbreaks at the time (wave 4 per say I guess), I'm there. Been caged up far too long and I'll be fully vaccinated by the end of August anyways.
