Well.

Lucky us westerner's!

According to the link: 'The Big One!'

Fastball is making the trek out west to show us his 'Great Stuff!' that they have avail! LOL!

I remember the last 'Big One' back in 2003 in Edmonton. One of his sales, was a Neely RC that was half priced. The sticker price he had on it was $70.00. Which would've been the 1997 price. So for his Half Price Sale.. You would've paid $5.00 over BV! That is at the time!

I mentioned this fact to him! The one with the Cheesy goatee. He just blew me off as if I didn't know what I was talking about!

I'm looking forward to having a look at his wares again to try & find that steal of a deal? ;)

They usually leave these shows with exactly what they brought to them. Here at the expo, several of the other dealers stand a couple feet away from their table and laugh their behinds off at them.

The dust on their showcases at their crap store is worth more than the feces they house in those displays. I'm kinda shocked that they actually head out to Edmonton do the "Big One" when they can stay here at the Expo in Toronto and be ignored for less cost :D .

Actually, heading out to Edmonton is more than generous of them. The cost of travelling from Edmonton to Toronto to laugh at these tools is high enough as it is, and will only get higher. This way, West coast collectors can save moeny on travel and get the same laughs the rest of us in the GTA get.

Classy move by Fastball IMHO.

"Great Stuff, huh?"

Fastball

I'm killing myself laughing here boys!

And here I thought I was the only dealer in this city that thought this guy was a complete TOOL!

I'm set up at the Expo in the same aisle and since I visit a couple of guys up front throughout the weekend, I'm forced to continously pass by the emptiness that is his booth.......AND I MEAN NO ONE IS EVER AT HIS BOOTH!!

Well, this ought to be fun to see - anyone else going for the laughfest?

IMO, this will be well worth the price of admission! Just to see the new 'Tumbleweeds!' roaming around his table(s). :D

The last 'Big One!' he didn't think that he had enough light. So he put up some floodlights to make his wares more visible!

I'm thinking about getting the weekend pass! Just to watch the fun & games.

One of my favorite fastball stories: I wish i could have been there to see this!

A friend bought a card there that had just came out - I think it was a Titanium Bergeron Jersey /37. Steve has it in his display case for 50 bucks before the thing booked, so my buddy grabs it. The thing ends up booking for 200 or so when its first released, and the next time my friend goes into the store, STEVE DEMANDS ANOTHER 150 DOLLARS FROM HIM FOR THE CARD!

Naturally, my friend told Steve where to go.

He also sets up at the Toronto Comic Con/Sci-fi show every year. Just like the sports cards shows, he gets no business. What a pathetic loser.

WOO HOOOO, He's coming to Vancouver too!! YAY!! I get a chance to blow the dust off him!! Hmmmmm, sounds like he has all the couth as a Wiser's guy

Brian

All of these stories reminds me of this brilliant website - Acts of Gord - great for time killing. Only thing is, the vendor is the good guy, whereas your stories have the vendor as the bad guy. Good for a few laughs. :D

Here's two for you:

I sold him a few smaller cards which added up to about $100 coming my way. Steve told me he could only offer $50 cash and something else for $50. He had 01/02 SPGU packs out at $50 each, so he offered me $50 and a pack. I took the SPGU and pulled a Ray Bourque auto'd jersey card. He was P-P_P-PISSED! It was great...he suggested that the right thing for me to do would be to sell him the card for the price of the pack. I smiled and left.

Another time, I walked in there and he had a Michael Jordan Jersey card out for $125 (and I KNEW it booked for $500). I bought it on the spot. I listed it that night and sold it for $350US...he saw the auction, and questioned me about it the next time I went in his "store". "Yup", I said, "that was my auction of the card I bought from you." His next question? "Why didn't you tell me it was worth that much?"....why, so you could ream me for the other $375? Y'okay, buddy.

Vancouver, put on your galoshes, there's a tidal wave of stupidity heading your way.

Had you told him what it was worth that card would have had a 800 dollar price tag on it.

At these expo shows there always a couple of turd dealers (Fastball, Nicks Cards from Northern Ontario - which is NOT the same "Nicks" as any of our esteemed high society board members) that are good for laughs.

This is the best thread I've seen in ages!

I'm going to be there on Saturday. Glad to be reminded of these guys. I would have seen the name and not remembered why I knew of them!!

Go to his table and find a card that has been sitting there for awhile. Tell him that he needs to mark down the price a little bit because the card looks as if it's faded. Tell him "it's almost as if it faded after years of sitting in your case under those lights".

Either that, or just go up to his table and ask him to show you a bunch of cards one by one and give him lowball offers. Or tell him boring stories about your card collecting past just to get a rise out of him.

Another fun one would be to show him a high value card and offer to sell it to him for maybe 1/10th of what it's worth. When he agrees, tell him "wait, nevermind" and walk away. Then go back later and offer him the same deal again, then retract it again when he accepts.

Pushing peoples' buttons is fun! Especially tools like this who deserve it.

Speaking of losers - there's this one guy at the expo with a bunch of 1999-00 BAP Sig. Series emblems/numbers cards. Nice stuff. However, the guy wants anywhere from 3x-5x book value on them each! I keep telling him I'll see it on his table the next time and laugh
