I gotta say, the potential match-ups in the Eastern Conference are looking fantastic. Can't wait for some deciding games tonight!

Montreal/Boston would be great for the crowds, but I can see the Bruins sweeping the seres and the Bell Centre crowd making Price the scapegoat.

Wouldn't it be something if the Hawks didn't get in this year?

whoever gets the Kings (Van or SJ) will get an easy series. they can't score at all w/o Kopitar.

That east lineup is pretty sweet.

Cant say Im complaining about facing the caps in round one either. A historically weak playoff team has changed their style a little bit, we'll see if it was enough to finally do something with the lineup they have...

I'm liking the :caps: play as of late, albeit last nights 1 - 0 loss to Florida, I'll forget for the time being.

Now just to get the initial schedule out so I can plan my playoff activities!

I'll obviously want the kings to do well but I know they are just going to get destroyed and play even more boring defensive hockey.

I picked the Rangers geting past the Caps.

I also picked Philly, Boston and Tampa to advance.

Oddly enough, the 1-8 matchup is the only one I cant really make a decision on. The caps should win by default, but they only took over first because the rest of the east fell apart in the second half.

Regardless, I could see Boston making it to the cup this year. It will all rest on Thomas...

Considering the Rangers only are in the playoffs because of a circus show, the 'east falling apart' isn't really a compelling argument.

I agree, except that I think Tampa Bay will be too difficult for Pittsburgh to handle in a series of seven.

interesting to note,ALL of the matchups listed have a regular season series split.should make for an interesting first round.

Seeds 5 through 8 come out in the East, and 1 through 4 in the West...and I was 7 for 8 in last years first round, so I trust my judgement.

My picks are as follow,

Boston - Montreal
Pittsburgh - Tampa Bay

Western Conference

Wishful thinking perhaps, but here's hoping!

Anaheim - Nashville tough, I say either can win it and will go to game 7

Leafs are out, surprise. After All-Star game they had a great spurt, but that wasn't enough.

So Stars let Blackhawks in to the playoffs.
I was hoping to see Niemi's Sharks against the Hawks. Let's see how Crawford can clarify playoff pressure. He's not going to get any help from a bench.

I go with these:

Eastern Conference

Washington - New York
Philadelphia - Buffalo
Boston - Montreal
Pittsburgh - Tampa Bay

Western Conference

Vancouver - Chicago
San Jose - Los Angeles
Detroit - Phoenix
Anaheim - Nashville
