Forsberg Comeback....

I really hope his foot can hold up. He seems to be coming back because he genuinely loves playing and it'd be nice to see him at least get near his old form.

Peter will return for play for his Swedish team, Modo.

If he returns at all. Its sad to see this happen to a player. His heart is obviously into coming back....and certainly so is his wallet. Maybe more rest is the answer, it would be a shame if he has to hang em up for good....

don´t you think that if "his wallet" was a big issue that he would play in the NHL instead of making AHL-type salary in Sweden? He´s not Jagr or Yashin, you know...[/QUOT

I agree it's totally heart he loves the game and it shows it has nothing to do with the money and everything to do with the fact that he loves to play.

The way his career has gone the past 3+ years is so sad. When he's 90% healthy, he's one of the best in the game...at 100%, dude is absolutely dominating. All due respect to the young guys in the league, he's the best, to me.

I gotta agree here too. That first 2/3 of the season he signed here was amazing, then the injuries set in. At least we ripped Nashville off for him, lol.

Thats exactly my point. He wants to play in the NHL....and so does his wallet. To take advantage of the higher salaries. Who wouldnt want to? Thats were he would make the most $$. Anyone who says a player comes to play in the NHL based only on his "heart" or because he "loves the game" probably thinks Elvis is still alive too.

Sadly, his condition may not allow him to make a comeback in the NHL. Its too bad, hes a great player. It would be nice to see him in the NHL.

What Ilhan was saying is that you're implying he's only coming back to the NHL for the salary. The guy has made more than enough money in his career and if it were all about money, do you think he'd care if he were truly 100%? No, he'd come back, convince a team he's good enough to take a flier on and then collect the check.

He's in it because he loves to play and he feels that the NHL is the level he should still be on. Not because of the pay scale.

This is a totally incorrect assumption. Not what I was saying at all. If I wanted to say "he's coming back strictly for the money"....I would've written..."he's coming back strictly for the money".
Hope this clears things up.

I guess Claude Lemieux came back for the money?

And you know for a fact that has nothing to do with it I suppose?....

Again to clarify for those who seem intent on reading into what was said. I dont claim to intimately know their reasons for coming back. Im saying that in my opinion one of the factors for them choosing to come back is money. Not just because someone has "heart" or "loves the game".

Considering how much Forsberg was getting paid during the late 90s, I don't think he is "doing it for the money."

I think you don´t quite understand the difference of salaries being in the NHL and the Swedish Elite League...I am very positive that there is no team in the entire NHL that would not take the risk of signing Forsberg for the salary he is making in Modo...heck, I bet even the crappy enforcers of some NHL teams "playing" 2-3 minutes per game makes more money than Forsberg will make in Sweden. Forsberg could still sign with an NHL team any day of the week if he really wanted to...maybe he wants to in the future, who knows? I personally think this is just a final test for him to see if can still play the game without being constantly injured, and if he can I am sure he would like to return to the NHL.

First, you guys don't know the motivation of a player. Maybe Forsberg gambles so he needs the money. Maybe he just wants to do what he loves for as long as he can.

Either way, if he can play, he plays. If he gets hurt, he doesn't.

I'm guessing he doesn't play for long. The body is just not there anymore.

Hello!

To bring som clearify about Forsberg, I think it´s the final test to see if his foot is right or not, about the salary he will get here in Sweden I think he will earn around $50 000 for the rest of the season so around $10 000 each month he plays! Then it´s up to you guys to think how much a player in NHL earns!

Forsberg is a huge bargain even if he just plays one or two games for modo though on his side I don't see what he's doing in Ornskoldvik YET. At his level and age the only option if healthy should be playing in the nhl. He probably have 2-3 more years in the 75-100 ptsrange as long as the foot is fff.

Darn, our local peewee team was trying to pick him up. I am glad he isn't coming back to the NHL. I love Forsberg but enough is enough, the past 2-3 comebacks have been huge failures. Call it a career or go play in a different league.
