GDT: Toronto vs Atlanta Dec 22

Yeah great start - more a testament to how the team is playing TOGETHER, but JP has made some pretty nice saves when needed...he looks calm.

there ya have it 6-2 leafs
pogge with his 1st NHL win
stajan with a 3 pt night
williams with yet another goal

Very fun game to watch. Pogge was very solid... spectacular toe save!! Good to see some nice rebound control and nicer to not see him trying to make a routine save look spectacular and get caught out of position, which he has done quite a bit the last few years.

Not looking forward to The Cup this year... Schenn, Kulemin, Sifers maybe and the return of the #29.

I was very happy to see Pogge in his first regular season NHL game....bring on the rookie cards. I think he was solid and made a couple really nice saves. Atlanta may not be the best team but they certainly have a few guys who can put the puck in the net. Great first game for him, could be the writing on the wall for Cujo to be moved or that the Leafs are getting ready to move Toskala (some time this season).

2 goals against and only 17 saves versus Atlanta? Not ready to give this kid saviour or Calder status yet...........

It will be fun to see all the Toronto collectors spending ridiculous money on Pogge RC's, just like they did with Stajan - how's that workin' out for ya :dizzy:

Well, its 19 saves.... meaning he has a .905 SV%. And it's 1 game. Any way you slice it, 2 goals against, on the road, in your NHL debut is decent. And I'm guessing you missed those 2 stretched out toe saves (if I'm not mistaken, one was the highlight of the night).

I don't really remember anyone spending ridiculous money on Stajan but he's proven to be a decent 2nd line player.

Regardless, it's workin out better than your claim that Schenn couldn't play in the NHL :owned:

Ernie - Some Stajan fans are still delusional over his ability and potential - and are still spending accordingly.

It's going to be an expensive spring for Leafs fans... The Cup Pogge rookie will almost certainly be /99... will the Schenn be /99 as well?

I can hear the laughing in California at the UD Christmas Party - Leaf Cup Rookies /99!!!! And we can do it twice? In the same year? Pass the egg nog! :owned::owned::owned::owned:

See, I don't necessarily disagree with you on any of this....

I just have a hard time seeing how this could/would reflect his play or ability? I don't even know why this matters?

Most hockey fans don't give 2 poops about the hobby and/or a players collectability. That doesn't cross their mind when assessing a player.

You got me on the first one, the box score I saw last night said 19 shots not 19 saves. Either way, it's Atlanta, so he played decent for his debut I guess.....

As for Schenn, maybe I should have been more specific. He couldn't play for a "real" NHL team. ;) Do you really think he would crack the lineup on a team that wasn't in full scale disaster mode like the Leafs were to start the year? His stats are nothing special, 27 games, 2 assists, -6, and 26 PIM's? He has the 4th worst plus/minus on the team, honestly, he has no business being in the NHL right now unless he's on a team that didn't have any other options (see Toronto).

True enough... but Stajan collectors have seen enough by now to know that his potential is roughly where he is right now, and adjust spending accordingly. I'm saying that in some cases, that hasn't happened, even after all this time.

And if the Schenn pricing is any indication, the Pogge cardboard will be.... ummm... interesting. ;) (Consider me a seller of Pogge.)

People in the hobby should love Toronto collectors, they are certainly passionate about their team and cardboard. I know many collectors who invested heavily in Raycroft rookie cards were doing back flips the minute he put on a Leaf sweater........
