Capitals - Hurricanes Preview and can be seen here: CSN-DC (HD), FS-CR with the puck drop at 5:00pm MDT! :D

Washington (45-22-6) has recorded a point in 10 of its last 11 road games, going 8-1-2 in that stretch. Ovechkin helped extend the run of road success with his league-leading 50th goal in a 5-2 victory at Tampa Bay on Thursday night.

Ovechkin, who also had two assists, scored 7:43 into the first period to become Washington's first three-time 50-goal scorer.

"It feels pretty good actually," the 23-year-old Russian star said. "Today was a lucky goal, I think. It's done right now. No pressure. Nothing."

Ovechkin might feel less pressure with that milestone out of the way, but the Capitals' work isn't done. Washington's 13-point lead over Carolina (38-28-7) atop the Southeast appears safe, but the Capitals are one point behind New Jersey for second in the Eastern Conference and four behind frontrunning Boston.

Making up ground could be tough against a Hurricanes team that's won seven straight in Raleigh to improve to 21-13-1 there this season. Carolina hasn't had a longer home winning streak since notching nine consecutive victories from Dec. 31, 2005-Jan. 28, 2006, en route to the franchise's lone Stanley Cup.

Nice little cheap shot by Brind'Amour on Ovie at the end. That was scary to watch his face go into the boards like that. Why oh why did he not get the boot for that?

Another great game of "let's not play tonight" by the Capitals.

Yup definately a "not play this game tonight"thing tonight lol.Damn disappointing one here, not the time to crumble now with a few weeks left.
o well next one hopefully

I'm really getting tired of this. This kind of play is gonna result in a 9 spot come April 5th this year.

And watch everyone come in and bash Theo and blame it on him AGAIN. (Where was the "D" when Carolina had the puck in front of Theo? ...... hmmm)

This seemed to be one of the Caps games where they aren't willing to get garbage goals. They never shot the puck, and were always looking for the perfect play where the end result is a wide open net shot.

They dominate the 1st period and come up with nothing, and that kind of buggers them up for the rest of the game.

Washington only has 2 games in the next 10 days, so they should be rested and ready to go for the last 8 games, and as of right now, their last 8 games are all against non-playoff teams. That could be good or bad. I'll take good.

I wasn't aware it was 2 games in 10 days until I hit the mark on NHL 09 and was like..... WHAT?!?!?! 2 games in 10 days? Gimme a break. Only to find out it was indeed true.

All I can say is.... so much for jumping Jersey or Boston in the next week or so.
