Sooooo, will the sale of the Giannis Antetokounmpo NT Logoman 1/1 (actually, 1/2) have any trickle down effect on similar cards like the Crosby, Ovi or McDavid Ultimate Rookie Shields?

Also, can you imagine being the guy who bought it on eBay for $7K and then returned it back in 2014 because it had a small mark on it?

I doubt it has any effect other than on other basketball, maybe football cards. Both those leagues are so flashy and money focused It's always about who can spend the most, have the shiniest, flashiest thing. I think in some ways its mirrored by the collectors. I could never see a McDavid or Sid Cup Property of Or Shield coming within 1/10th of that price, or even close to be honest.

Basketball collectors and buyers are getting priced out of basketball cards and are moving towards baseball and soccer. Football is coming on strong and top tier hockey players are seeing a spike.

People diss Panini all the time but they know what they're doing and they know their market. I can see an eventual spike in older hockey singles (meaning, 1990 - 2000 low pop cards) but I don't think hockey will see the same explosion the other sports are seeing.

People make mistakes in the hobby all the time but that one has to be one of the all time greats. Returning a card that had a yellow stain that could have been removed with some alcohol. Ouch.
