It amazes me what passes for a 9.5 for grading. What’s your guys thoughts on the centring of this card? I don’t think it should be 9.5 on centring and that would drop the cards over all grade down to a 9. What would the value difference be at a 9?

Usually anything better than 55/45 is good enough for a 9.5 on centering I believe - 50/50 all around will get you a 10 generally - but hey what do I know?

The image alone brings things to mind. Haha

This is more off then I'd like for a 9.5 subgrade but you'd have to ask the boys over at BGS, specifically the grader who did this one, what the reasoning was?

Maybe they have guidelines for certain sets like 2005-06 Cup based on what they've seen come through? This may be a "normal" gem mint center?

Well, to be brutally honest, I don't think this being a PWCC auction helps. There is no way that is 9.5 centering, but magically it is and the card gets a 9.5.

I just feel bad for some guy who spends 20k usd or what ever this thing will go for. Knowing the cards grade is bs.

I wouldn't. He'll sit on it for three years, and once Ovy breaks the all-time goal record he'll double his money or better.
