IF Alexis LaFreniere is allowed to be in Series 1, what will be the value of his Young Guns card?

McDavid was about $200US out the gate (I checked my sold listings... $213 on 11/10/2015)

I could see Lafreniere going for about $150 just because of the hype and the abundance of money flowing back into the hobby with the shutdown.

Us ranger fans have never had a first overall pick to chase. Something to think about when guessing a value/price. I’d guess around $250

Ya I read something like 1961, 1965? That far back. Not even close to the young gun era. I'm still going with the first poster... $150 US/$200 Cdn.

The best draft picks will be going 3 and 5 though... :D

The DAWN of a new era and as new collectors do not remember or were around for the Crosby hype. Ovy cards have only been seeing their true value with his recent awards / goal scoring achievements.
Next was McDavid in 2015/16 and he brought a brand new wave of collectors / INVESTORS to the collecting world!
I now see the current trend, might be covid related, with INVESTORS to follow with the release of Lafreniere cards as I see people with disposable $$$$s speculating on his cards with a freezy for his graded cards.
It's great for the American market and especially New York City and area.

Lafreniere is the real deal!!! I think this will open a shade over 200 and settle around 300 as he rips up the league on the way to the Calder.

Those were only done in 2010-11, weren't very successful from what I heard so UD hasn't done them since.

"Reaching into the brand's past, a new parallel choice is the French text edition that falls 1:30 packs for base subjects and 1:120 packs for Young Guns."

I think you're dreaming. McDavid debuted higher than that on a team that had been destroying first round pics for six years. Matthews debuted higher than that for the league's most infamous cupless drought team.

$300.

Is he more highly touted than mcdavid?

I wonder what NYR could get from the Habs for that pick
Honestly, I'm not convinced there is a package that would get it done. Obviously it would include Suzuki you'd think, maybe KK as well. Those two still don't get it done though. But man, imagine if a deal did actually happen.

Really? What in the world makes you believe he won't be a very good NHL player?

I don’t think he is a weak player, I think in deeper draft years he goes 2-4. Which IMO makes him a weak first overall. He is no Matthews, McDavid, Eichel, etc. I do think he will be a great NHL player.

He is also a winger, his star power as a C would be higher.

In a deeper draft? This is one of the deepest drafts in over a decade. Lafreniere may not be McDavid or Crosby but I don't see why he won't be an impact player like Patrick Kane.

Well, I'll put this out there, anyone willing to sell me his Young Guns for $200 CAD, hit me up. Consider this a buy order for up to 10 copies.

First come first served. :D

Having spoken to a scout with strong bona fides, he believes Lafreniere is a difference maker. Plus he's not slight by any stretch of the imagination with a need to fill out physically like Hughes. It's not like you're getting Taylor Hall, who is a really good complementary player, but has not shown the ability to make teammates better or has a great hockey IQ.
