So under cap rules...can a team pick up Gabby via trade and not take a cap hit by putting him on injured reserve for the rest of the season, or a physically unable to perform list? (do those exist in hockey?)
If so, I don't see his stock falling that much more than it already has...
I think that you can but why would you trade for a guy that is going to be a free agent at the end of the year - just for the opportunity to try to sign him first? I guess I can see the rationalization behind it but I can't imagine anyone would give up too much for those rights.
Too bad for Gabby and the Wild - you would think that you would be able to get the best production of they guys career in his last season instead you get zippo - hurts the team and himself, can't imagine that teams are going to be lining up to write him a big check now...well I guess there is always a dumb owner out there somewhere though.
They say he MIGHT be back in time for end of season/playoffs.........but I highly doubt it. Gabby is a SLOW healer and he will be out for the rest of the season.haha the title is funny.
So it's officially probable that he's out?![]()
It looks like the curse of Minnesota sports is alive, and well.![]()
Darn...Gaborik and Kariya, my pool is done.
