Verified Trader ,
Hi again from Joe P. A happy belated Canada Day to my fellow Canadians and a happy Independence Day to all those who celebrate it. Since I've been showing my 2025 pickups in 2-month installments, I figured I'd continue that trend as we turn the page to the back half of 2025. Do my past 2 months justify a show thread? Ehhhh...debatable. But hey, I'm wiping the slate clean for a fresh start so cut me some slack
81/82 O-Pee-Chee Stickers #239 Larry Murphy Autograph 10.00 by primetimepawich, on Flickr
Not a "new to me" addition, this was an impulse buy from the same guy on Facebook I got my original copy from a couple of years ago. I recognized it when he listed it on Ebay earlier this year and watched it with a casual eye. As the BIN/OBO price continued to drop, my curiosity got the better of me and I asked him on Facebook what it would take to reunite it with one of its long-lost brothers. A deal was quickly made and it arrived from the States just before the anticipated Canada Post strike that never came. These aren't easily found signed and I was happy to add it as either a PC piece or possible trade chip down the line if needed.
95/96 Finest #42 Larry Murphy PSA GEM MT 10 (POP 1) 13.50 by primetimepawich, on Flickr
I know modern graded cards are polarizing in the hobby but if I see a GEM MT 10 Murphy I don't have and can get it for cheap? I will do that EVERY time, full stop. His GEM MT 10 OPC RC is still the dream though.
16/17 Ultimate Hockey Ultimate Signature Memorabilia Printing Plates Cyan #SMLM1 Larry Murphy 1/1 12.50 by primetimepawich, on Flickr
This was a nice surprise as I just don't see many cards from this release on the secondary marketplace anymore.

2025 Leaf Metal Legends - Metallic Inscriptions Prismatic Purple #MI-LM1 Larry Murphy 4/7 1.25 by primetimepawich, on Flickr
I bookended the past 2 months with these extreme value pickups. I was intrigued when I saw the checklist for this release and saw that Leaf was doing their usual ParaHell with these Inscriptions. Expected the worst but early results have been surprisingly mixed. Some have been unreasonably priced, while these were anything but. I want more of them obviously but we'll see what the future holds.
2024 Leaf Metal Legends Exotic Mythical Autographs Kraken Diagonal Shimmer #ELM1 Larry Murphy 1/1 13.00 by primetimepawich, on Flickr
I'll give the top spot in this showcase to this pickup from 2024 Leaf Metal which illustrates the stones I will overturn to unearth PC cards. This is my first 1/1 from any recent Leaf Metal release and showed up in a Google search in my beloved Reddit of all places. The Redditor was showing off a break from a few months prior which this Murphy was among. A glimpse at a few other hockey card posts of theirs implied the owner was a Wings fan/collector, so with Murphy pictured in a Wings uni, I thought my chances of acquiring it were slim. Nonetheless, I signed up for an official Reddit account and messaged them to test the waters. They got back to me saying that if they still had it, it would be very much available. They did, and it was. Without any real comps, I expected the worst but they were very easy to deal with. A deal was quickly struck and it arrived safe and sound as lettermail to avoid the usual cross-border mailing hassle. Very happy to add it as I know if the same card had gone through Ebay, I may not have been so lucky.
A "who do you collect?" thread on Reddit also led me to another Murphy collector. On a much more recent smaller scale, mind you, but they still have some stuff, and of that stuff, I actually need most of it. So it's clear they've been a recent thorn in my side on Ebay and I've tried to make a hobby friend of them in the event we can work together to help each other in future.
Last month, I actually SOLD these 2 bigger former PC cards as my collection continues to evolve and streamline:

Does it mean I'm throwing in the towel? Hardly. Sales like this just help me focus on the premium pieces I already have and open up hobby dollars that can go a long way with value pickups.
Hope the hobby is treating you all well. Thanks in advance for the look.
