Here we go with another mail post, this is most of the stuff that has come in since the first of August (with a few exceptions, which are on hold until they clear trade!). Here we go:

A mini disclaimer before we get going, my scanner appearantly was dirty when I scanned some of these last night, and with me being super tired [you'll see why at the end of this post!] after the weekend, I am not going to bother to scan them again at the moment, though you'll get the point of the card when you see the scans!

Let's start red hot out of the gate, shall we?

2005-06 Hot Prospects Red Hot Prized Prospects Patch/Auto - Andrew Ladd /50
This one came in a sale with the next card. Just realized that there is a few spots that are chipped along the top end of the card, but for the price I got the two for, I can't really complain, because it is still a decent card.

Always liked the look of this set and decided to jump on this one because the price was right!

If you missed it earlier in the month....

2008-09 Victory Rookies of Turris, Mason and Okposo

I've busted my share of this stuff so far (1 box and 12 loose packs) and am expecting two more boxes this week! Hopefully will be very, very close to one complete base set plus the rookies! And, of course, I'll be looking for David Brine stuff out of this (gold or black RC's especially!)!

Now, for one of the FOUR The Cup cards in this post (I never got my first 2006-07 The Cup card last year, and I never had more than two cards from that year in my possession at one time, so I am pumped!)

2007-08 The Cup Dino Ciccarelli GOLD Base Jersey /25
Found this one while roaming "that other site" and decided to pick it up. The card will probably not end up coming out with a high book, but it is still a nice, two color piece!

How about some more inkage!

2007-08 UD Trilogy Ice Scripts Marc Andre Fleury
This came in a package of two of these Ice Scripts from Phigagne (more later). I like the looks of the Ice Scripts set from this year, especially after I recieved the Lindsay earlier in the Summer!

And now a buy I question myself about everyday:

2007-08 OPC Premier Triple Jersey/Patch Auto Rookies - Tuukka Rask /50
This card has some fraying around the patch window (see the gold), but overall, it is a nice card. This is the card I purchased that I thought would land my mini white whale (the 2006-07 Hot Prospects Hot Materials Red Hot Crosby /100 in my last mailpost) but was not to be as the trader had traded the card out from under my feet, leading me to another trader with the card and was able to land the card. But, since this didn't take the cake, it is on the block for trade!

And, just missing out on the top five on this mailpost, another one of The Cup contingent in this field:

sutter.jpg

2007-08 The Cup Stanley Cup Signatures /25 Brent Sutter
Really hard decision not to include this in the "top five" in this one, because I love the design of these cards and it is a auto numbered to twenty five, but it lost out by a fender to these boys:

In fifth:

2007-08 The Cup Cup Enshrinements Auto /50 Guy Lafleur
You know when a HOF auto comes fifth in a mail post like this, the other contenders must be pretty stout! I like this look of this set, not as much as the Stanley Cup Signatures, but the "Flower Power" of this card put it a nose ahead of the Sutter in this post.

Finding its way into fourth in this mailpost:

malkinice.JPG

2007-08 UD Trilogy Ice Scripts Evgeni Malkin Auto

The second Malkin auto to pass through my hands and a beaut it is! I need to thank Phigagne (Rob) for this one and the Fleury you saw earlier! He is a first class trader and one of the best on the net! Again, I love the look of this set and though I don't have close to the pockets needed to complete a set like this, it is still nice to sit back and admire cards like these!

And now, your podium finishers of this mail post!

In third:

thornton.JPG

2007-08 UD Trilogy Personal Scripts Joe "2006 Hart Trophy" Thornton /25 Auto
What would a "Trilogy" be without three Trilogy cards in this post? You've probably seen this one earlier in the week, but it's worth putting here. Still not sure what to do with this card I hauled, but if you want a shot at it, come hard!

Narrowly missing out on the top position of the podium in this post is this gem:

Really like the look of this one...

Are you ready yet?

That's good...

But I'm not!

Never mind, now I am...

Here you go!

dionne.jpg

2007-08 The Cup Honorable Numbers Patch/Auto /16 Marcel Dionne
The "patches" are kind of weak, but nevertheless, still a beautiful card! I need to thank tornadobox for this one, along with the top three "The Cup" cards from this post. A first class high end trader Dave is and would deal with again in a heartbeat!

Now, what tops a low numbered patch auto card from a hall of famer with a proven "track" record on the ice?

In my book; this does!

Number one!

2008 Scott Kelly Memorial 100 Presented by Parts for Trucks, Round 8 of 11 on the CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stock Tour
I know, these aren't cardboard but this night will be #1 in my book for a very long time to come! If any of you are familiar with stock car racing or big racing events in the Maritimes, you have probably heard of the CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stock Tour. For those who haven't, it is the biggest touring stock car series in Atlantic Canada and I got my first shot at announcing their show up in James River, Nova Scotia and boy, was it ever fun! I got to announce qualifying up at Speedway 660 outside of Fredericton, N.B. a month ago for the MPST, but never got to do the main event (which includes introducing the drivers, doing interviews and all that nice stuff)! This time around though, I got to announce everything at the Parts for Trucks 100, including doing the interviews post race with second place finisher Lonnie Sommerville (Saint John, N.B., top) and winner Craig Slaunwhite (Terrance Bay, N.S., bottom). I never thought after starting my "live" announcing gig last year that I would get the call to announce for these guys.

Now, their regular announcer returns next week and I return to my regular post behind the scenes with the Tour but hopefully I've gained some respect as the stand-by announcer and hopefully get the call to "call" the races should the main announcer cannot make it in the future!

That's all she wrote this time around. Most of the cards in this post are FT. Thanks again all!
